On Foreign journalists focus on Janesville

What? Those statements do not even go together. What has happened here is not a secret. Stop trying to control how we look. First, we do not all look the same. We is not all inclusive. We are what we allowed ourselves to be, or what we made of ourselves. Hiding it, will not fill the plant. Covering it up will not feed the jobless. Presenting it for what it is may be a chance for us to market what we have reather than what we had. Can you prove what Al-Jazeera wanted to run the story for, the angle they would take, the subject they were specifically interested in, how they conveyed the message, or how their audiance would receive it? Since you answer is a resounding NO, why not be a bit more optimistic.

Thanks to the pre-conceived ignorance of Bob Borremans, Executive Director of the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, Al-Jazeera was rejected for an interview. Al-Jazeera, a CNN-like news channel that tells the world the other side of our story. Al-Jazeera, a respected news channel that chooses to air alternative views of a story for a more complete picture of what is taking place in the world. Al-Jazeera, a company broadcasting news to the entire world, but originating in, and catering to the richest area in the world. The board of directors for the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development should consider electing a spokesperson, or a new Exec. Director. The ill-informed, quick to speak Borremans just cost this area some needed attention. In fact, he may have cost this area a minute in the marketing spotlight. Like the story reads, it is not everyday Janesville makes the news. Now, when there are thousands of able-bodied workers, vacant plants, prime shipping and distribution centers, and a supporting economy looking for an investment we have Borremans turning down the chance to deliver this message. He blew the chance to speak to wealthy, innovative, and very intelligent people that could have considered this area prime for investment. Instead, they are rejected based on, well, we all know what it was based on. Sad, quite sad.

On Deadly intersection defies safety efforts

Why not hammer the area with Rock County Sheriff speed patrol at long intervals on random times day and night. Toss in a few weekends, some sneaky hiding spots, and signs posted at the top of the hills just before one can view the intersection warning of the stretch. That could slow traffic over time. Use Milton Township and the County to keep the drivers on their toes. Place a sign at the stop sign for drivers on N to read explaining the speed underestimation effect as well as the high # of accidents due to impatient turns.

Opinion, I can speak for myself. You are incorrect in your assessment of me. I do value Sue's opinion. I do think the website serves a purpose. I do not think she needs to add a counterpoint or analyze facts for the reader. If she deducts that there is a problem so be it. If she is just informing the public, then let the info speak for itself. Unless you are challenging the facts in the report as being false or fraudulent, why not just present them and let the reader decide? Have some faith in the reader, unless that is, you do not think your constituents are capable for thinking on their own. You have a very informative website. You taint your message, and show your bias with all of the commentary in blue.

Remember, you serve as a voice for the majority of the people. If they need to be swayed with your commentary, that means they are not yet on your side. That means you obviously are too busy trying to corral and brainwash the sheep to realize they are not sheep! Represent like you were voted to do. No one says the website is a bad idea, only that your commentary in blue, and the push to convert people to think your way is. Have a little respect for the authority that your department has. Even if you disagree, remember they still have a job to do. You are chipping away at their authority and ability to do their duties making this look like some kind of scandal. The Township Officers do a very good job in many people's eyes. I am one of them. I like the fact at any given time of the day they are tucked back in some drive running radar. The fact they are not always there is a cost effective way to deter speeders that think a township care could be around the any corner. Again, there are some ways your facts could be used to find a happy medium. There are changes that could be made to better define duties and fine tune the patrol's goals. Over all you are getting a great value. The county option you have on the table will result in no additional patrol. The people have an excellent value for less than $7/person right now. Your website costs you more than that a month to host. Your website name cost more than that per year to register! I see how you drive. I see you fly past my house in your little car each morning. I want them out there so that you think twice before speeding. I do not want to read about you hitting some kid because you are late for work. That is why we need the targeted services the township provides. I have called the Sheriffs Department about the speed of the cars in the mornings. They come out once and they forget about it after that. The Township Chief, Tom, found a few strategic spots to run radar over the course of a few weeks. I saw an immediate correlation in drivers speed. While that change does not last forever, he has made it a point to make repeat efforts to remind drivers he could be there anytime. I say we keep the Township Police! Thank you Mr. Kunkel!

Biased? Sue, do you have a mouse in your pocket? You said, " We agree with you that this study was very bias." Sue, you calling out a biased report is the definition of the pot calling the kettle black. Your "informative" website would be appropriate only if you distanced yourself as a public figure. Your comments countering every detail of factual reports are an attempt to sway public opinion. You have that right as a citizen, but your job on the board is to represent the voice and interest of the people. Why not let the people think on their own? Is it because you think the public is below your intelligence quotient and therefore unable to come to their own conclusions w/o your influence? Are you representing the thoughts of the people, or are you influencing them so that you can represent a crowd of people thinking the way you guided them hence representing your own interest? If you have a case that is that good on it's own merits, then set the information free of your own bias so that it has a chance to float. Of course you know better. Most will not take the time to gather enough data to come to your conclusion. I have said all along that if you could communicate and work on changes your constituents want, you would be right in calling for some modifications. To essentially issue a public declaration of the facts as you see them gives a feeling of a public figure declaring a no-confidence vote for the authorities put in place to ensure safety. That is nothing short of irresponsible. But then again CCAP gives me a better feel as to the way you, as a professional, operate when people do not see things your way. How about a civil, round-table discussion to make changes as needed while still retaining the seemingly bargain price each person in the township. Why are those numbers left out? $2-$7 per person is a deal in my eyes. I like the extras that come with our own officer. I also like the fact they can target problems at their will. One example would be speeders. Sue, do you speed?

Art was an angel. Those lucky enough to have met him know this. A true hero to our communities. Anyone that reads the comments left for him will only come to one conclusion. God bless the family. I have included the other fine, must-read comments can be that people have left for Art. They can be found here:

On Protest signs knocked down, stolen

While some, including myself, may disagree with the obnoxious sign campaign, it does not give anyone the right to vandalism. While Opinion may not like my written comments protesting the delivery of Mr. Dorns message, I respect his discontent. My comments regarding Mr. Dorn are simply stating publically known facts. I dislike his means of protest, not him, not his message. I owe Mr. Dorn an apology if he took personal offense to what I said. This was not intended. Knowing all of the details makes a story complete. Withholding some, as we have seen, leads to an incomplete understanding of all involved. Opinion, you can apply this to the Sue G's fight also. Allowing all of the details makes it much easier for people to make the correct decision.

Again, there are more acceptable ways to show discontent. I chose to show mine here i the form of a written blog entry. Some may not agree this is the best way either, others posting blog entries obviously do. If they did not think the blog was appropriate, it would not have the traffic it does. I would hope most everyone would agree that tearing down, or taking signs is absolutely unacceptable. Nothing makes vandalism ok.

Great story! It is nice to see these businesses highlighted in an effort to help them cope with the devastating effects of the floods. With any luck, this event will draw as many people as Break In The Weather. This past weekend it looked like there were many people out on the water again. There were jet skis, wave runners, and many boats. Best wishes to the area bars, restaurants, marinas, and campgrounds. Steve, the owner of the Anchor, should be patted on the back for all he did to help out in the floods. I would also like to say the updates he has made to his place were well done. Both the Anchor and Finns should be proud of what they have. They are competition, but also feed off each others business. Keep up the good work.
