I drive city streets everyday, no matter the weather. I have been very surprised at how well the streets have been cleaned and how quickly. I cant speak for country roads but in town has been great.

matt516,no my son can't just go home to get his phone.For starters,he doesnt have one and,we live across town from his school.I pick him up everyday.If he wants to go to a friends after school,no problem.Let me know ahead of time so I dont drive all the way over there for nothing.The school he was in before allowed him to use their phones so there was never a problem.Im not saying let kids chat during school,just during breaks or lunch.No harm in that!

To be more specific,he wants to hang out at a friends house at the last minute after school and cant call me.

My child just transfered to another school and Im upset.He has no cell phone,because I thought He could always use the school phone.I tried to contact him one day and the school told me they dont allow kids to use the phones there.I got mad at the person because,WTF? I need to talk to my child! She said they would pass on a message but that isnt why I called.His contact with me is through his friends cell phones.I have NEVER in my life heard of a school that would require a kid to have a cell cuz they are not allowed to use the real phones! I cant afford for my kid to have his own cell so what is he suppose to do when he needs to call me or I need to speak with him?No such thing as pay phones any more!

I was an ice skater most of my life and love the ice rink.However,I dont believe,in these times,this small city should spend the money to fix up the ice arena. It is too costly right now and we have much bigger problems than locker rooms!

Try thinking of the adult carriers for just a minute.Ok,ok,yes,they still have a job.BUT,what about the life altering consequences? Some carriers have to change EVERYTHING about their lives,upset their entire household and maybe get sleep sometime in between.Some would say,well if you dont like it,quit.For some,that just isnt an option and even if it was,where would they go?I think a third shift premium should be in effect for these people!Someone offered a $20 bet that parents were not asked how this would affect their kids.I will bet the same that no one else was asked either!

ok,my last comment aside....I think this thing is a very bad idea ! McDonalds isnt even hiring anymore from what I hear and the city wants to spend HOW MUCH????? Im all for the ice rink,just not at the expense of the the rest of us! I agree with most comments here. Fix the economy FIRST!!!!! Wait,um...work first,play later.Strange concept? That's what I was taught growing up.Remember the 3 little pigs? 2 did not heed warnings,they had to hide under the 3rd !!! No thanks ! I would rather do things right !

I dont believe now is the time for building something new that Janesville already has. Fix it ? Maybe, when the time is right. Personally, I couldnt care less about hockey as I was a figure skater. However, some people DO care and I think it's them who need to pay up !
