On Janesville police arrest Dane County robbery suspect

This whole thing is so disturbing on so many levels.
1. He was released on a signature bond after recieving charges of burglary, endangering safety, and a weapons charge.
2. They get a tip that he is at this address a block from Parker High School, yet this story says nothing about steps they took to protect the safety of the students that were flocking out of the school after their exams, at the exact same time the police were doing their surveillance.
I was parked at the corner of waveland and westwood at 11 am, waiting for my child after her exams. One of the Janesville squad cars was parked right across from me, and I didn't think nothing of it, just figured they were there, because there have been complaints before about students in this particular area.
Perhaps in the beginning, the police didn't know students would be exiting at this time, but as more and more cars came and parked there, they must have had an idea students were being released at this time. As the students were coming down the walkway, the squad car had pulled out, and after getting my daughter,I was just a few cars behind it. Less than a block later, another squad car was coming off a side street, and I made a comment to my daughter about all the squad cars in the area. As we were approaching the corner of Bond and Crosby, one of the squads turned on their lights and proceeded around all the cars congesting that intersection. As we came around the corner, we saw the girlfriends car pulled over, and still at this time, just figured it was a speeder, nothing more.
After having lunch at McDonalds, we went back up crosby, and at this time, there were at least 4 squads, and they had the guy face first in the slush, in cuffs.
It wasn't until later we heard the news report over the radio, that we finally figured out what we had been witnessing.
So my question is this, they have a tip that this guy was hiding at this house a block from the school, kids would be pouring out soon, the guy is a fugitive with a weapons charge, and endangering safety, what if anything was done to ensure the safety of these students? How would the cops know he didn't have more weapons, and might feel the need to use them, so's not to be taken back into custody?
On Just skating by: Group needs help to keep Traxler tradition alive and well

This is a wonderful story, and brings great memories of my childhood. I grew up right up the hill on Memorial Drive, and traxler park ice rink was the hangout. I am planning on taking my son tonight, I just hope this old body still knows how to skate. Sally and Jeff, I don't suppose you have butt bumpers for those of us who fall with very little grace?

I would hire my friend the best damn lawyer available, one who would actually get the judge to enforce the ruling made years ago, that her dead beat ex, pay the child support, he has still not paid a dime of, but is freely walking the streets of this fine town. And if that didn't do the trick, I would buy her a house in a county that actually stands by their rulings, and doesn't let the dead beats live the life of luxery, while their children are living below the poverty level.

cool, I need some more snow to build up my snow banks, so when the frikin plows come by, they wont bury my walks with more snow than was there when I shoveled them off in the first place. Yes Mr. snowplow man, I am the one that was out there flipping you off and swearing at you when you came down my street. I think they should start their cutbacks by firing your sorry butt, before you hurt someone with the speed in which you feel the need to plow, throwing all the wet heavy stuff at the people who are actually out there trying to keep their walks cleared. Now I know why so many people don't shovel their walks any more, they see what a waste of time it is.

I can't say how things are now, but back in the mid 80's, when I graduated, my friend was not even allowed to try out for the baseball team, because he never played in little league, or any of the other leagues, as he was from a low income family, who neither had the extra money for him to do so, or the transportation to get him to those things. He was never given the chance to prove himself, which was just plain wrong. I clearly remember a time when it was who you knew, or how much money Mom and Dad had that determined if you played. I would hope those times have changed. My daughter now plays basketball, and even though she was told by several people if she didn't attend the summer basketball camps, she would not make the team, I am happy to say, she is on the team, and we didn't have to buy her a spot on it, she earned it. I'm sure there are some coaches out there who have less than honorable ways of running things, but there are several more who are very honorable. And it really doesn't make sense to bench someone, who has the ability, just because they didn't do whatever during the off season, and play someone with less ability, who did the off season stuff. Not saying it doesn't happen, but sounds like a stupid decision to me. 20 kids trying out for a sport, 10 spots available, you pick the 10 who have the best ability during the tryouts, reguardless of family income, or what the child does over summer vacation. I would be afraid if my child had to stick to 1 sport all year long, she would suffer burnout, and not even want to play anymore, so I am glad she can change it up every few months.
On Deadly intersection defies safety efforts

UMMMMMMMMM, I thought the only solution for intersections and crossing that were deemed unsafe, because of people in a hurry, or innattentive was to build a tunnel. If expensive unneccessary tunnels are good enough for janesville, then they are good enough for rock county. Lets all be moles and tunnel around.

If she was speeding, and she did admit it, then there is no failure to yield on his part. She forfeited her right away by driving over the posted limit. Perhaps all vehicles should come equiped with speed guns, so we can tell how fast the vehicles so far away are moving, and then we will know if we have enough time. Cops will do what they want because they can. My neighbor growing up used to ride with his lights and sirens on coming home for lunch, which was an emergency only in his mind.

Oh my, why would anybody feel the need to do a reverse look up, or even look up someones my space if they have no idea who these people are? I understand the internet can make you as nosey as you want to be, but seriously, do you people have lives? And how many of you super nosey sleuths decided to get real nosey and do a drive by, I would bet probably everyone of you. It amazes me what people do to entertain themselves.

I too was very curious about citations, like several of us witnesses were. There was absolutly nothing obstructing her view of the cycle. Either she didn't bother to look before turning, or she is one of those who thinks just because she has the car, she has the right of way. Or maybe she was too busy on the phone she used to call all her co-workers, instead of checking on the people laying in the road.
We'd also like to know the reasoning for her little trip around the block before returning to the scene. Was there something in your car you didn't want to get caught with?
