On Where are my keys???

Posted on January 12 at 11:20 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

My keys are exactly where I put them - right now in my purse. At home, they go on the counter so I know where they are when I want to leave. If anyone moves them, it is their fault! I know some that have found their keys in the fridge, where they put their bags of grocery-or left in the ignition of their car - Yikes!

Maybe the sign has a hidden message and GM is returning to Janesville. I doubt it-but do find the sign placement to be tacky. So agree with alyssas71

It is really hard for a young family to pay for health insurance/auto insurance/groceries etc. on $9 to $12 an hour. I know it can be done, but prices go up, wages go down - yup, Janesville better get use to this norm - let's just keep bashing the fact that GM is no longer there to help the economy. I sure don't miss "Janesville", but I miss friends and family still struggling to live there.

On Safe in Janesville

There is crime everywhere, and wherever you live you need to learn to be observant and know your surroundings. I've learned by living in Arlington TX where there is more people & more crime and you need to observe your surroundings. Recently an accident happened where a Good Samaritan offered help to a man and his children who were in a car accident, and the guy pulled out his gun & shot the guy dead. Could this happen in Janesville, WI - Yes, I think so. Our world is very sad when you are not even safe offering assistance. Learn to observe and know your surroundings in your neighborhood, stores wherever you may be.

I wouldn't be where I am now in my career if it wasn't for a business giving me the opportunity to train and learn from them! If you want good workers, then start training them for the job you want them to do.

On Do you lack the skills employers need?

Many jobs out there are requiring a certain amount of "years" of experience. For our younger "just out of school" generation, that is a requirement that they do not have. In order for them to get experience, employers need to give them a chance to prove their worth with some encouragement. Due to a move, I had to switch jobs after years of experience (20) - I didn't get jobs due to being overqualified, or it was by the way I presented myself. I was told to "not" stress to prospective employers my years of experience as that would give the employer the feeling of someone trying to take their job away from them. Instead, I was told to sell my skills, and then once I land the job, prove my worth by showing my experience. It is a hard world out there, and many are out their watching their backs. As far as being the first one out of the parking lot at quitting time, give that person a chance - maybe he/she was overwhelmed with trying to learn a new job - I've been there - doesn't mean I am not thankful for a job and feel the desire to put extra time into it.

two 90 gal carts? That would be pretty heavy for an elderly person to have to roll out to the curb each week?

On What not to wear

I'm working in Texas now, and was so in awe at how people come to fill out a job application or attend a job fair. I felt over-dressed - however I got the job. The HR director didn't seem to matter as long as they could speak english. Or, you wouldn't believe how many would bring the whole family in for a job interview! However, they were very strict on their job attire once you were hired. My second job down here, I was coached to "sell my skills, not my experience in the field" bring a positive attitude and dress for success. If you put your mind to finding a job, you need to look postive and dress your best.

On Will you pay for Made in the U.S.A.?

We too look first for "made in the USA" even if it costs more. Sometimes we have to settle if we just can't find what we are looking for. But, reading labels and searching for the made in USA logo is top on our mind.
