this boils down to personal responsibility plain and simple, its not the bartenders fault you decided to patronize their bar, no one told you to drive there and get drunk and drive away, You have to be an adult to drink so act like one and get a driver if your gonna get intoxicated. Its not the responsibility of the police to protect you from your own stupidity again get a cab or another driver if you can't control your drinking, Police stopped giving rides to people when lawsuits started, if the police get in an accident when your in the car I'm sure you'll feel like you have the right to sue, also there have been many cases of police being accused of things. Solution to those problems is to not cart people who are not in custody around. Also if the police have to play taxi who will respond to emergency calls? Tax payers can't afford to put more police on the payroll to cart drunks around. And yes alcoholism MAY be a disease but its a self imposed disease. Too many people just drink without thinking of the consequences and here's the kicker, they can claim they have this self imposed disease and get disability for it so they don't have to have work interfere with their drinking. again responsibility, And we are having problems funding social security as it is for the hard working retired people who paid into it and a big chunk of money is coming out for this self imposed disability. I call this "disease" bunk its weak will and a total disregard for anyone but themselves.

On Hospital creates jobs in Janesville

Donnaw, LOVE your post, while there are some who are being legit age discriminated there are a lot not wanting to work, They go in asking for more than they know the job pays, demand more benefits than the company offers and don't want to work the full work day. Then they cry poor me and wonder why they don't have jobs. And to whoever posted all they are hiring is doctors and nurses, that may be true now but they are going to need laundry people and meal people. I don't think the doctors are going to change the sheets and have the nurses cook the meals.
On Is your economy recovering?

The Great Recovery is a grassroots movement spread by people who are tired of looking to Washington for answers. The truth is that the government can’t fix this economy. It’ll be restored one family at a time, as each of us takes a stand to return to God and grandma's way of handling money.
Together, we’ll bring this country back on track—one family, one church, one community at a time.

arguing over which party is worse isn't going to solve any of the problems. The government is broke, One party doesn't want to lose votes by losing entitlement programs and the other doesn't want to lose them by increasing taxes. You all can argue all you want about Obama or Bush, I can let you know neither cares about the people. Unfortunetly the solution is to raise taxes AND cut spending, its the same thing we have to do in our own households, raise income and cut unnessecary spending,

IL makes you wait a week. One week isn't going to kill anyone and it cuts down on erroneous payouts that people have to pay back. Not really a big deal or anything to throw a fit over

On More shuttered storefronts at the mall
Posted on February 24 at 9:33 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
The economy isn't what it used to be, people don't have the disposable income they had in the past and I haven't been in that mall since several gazette readers commented on how the people from Il are only a drag on society and said I only spend 2 dollars coming through there, used to shop there a lot due to taxes being cheaper, I stopped going there as did several people I know. We can spend our money more wisely in Wisconsin, There is a much better mall in Madison and most of us are traveling past Madison anyhow. no need to shop where we aren't wanted. A lot of people do read the comments on this papers site. Janesville used to be a nice place to visit, shop and live. But with the comments some of the residents and readers have posted it has become abundantly clear to most that Janesville does not want "tourists" and is very closed minded to new ideas
