On Modine cuts 20 jobs at Racine headquarters

Cuts are made, but rarely does one hear about high-paying executives taking cuts in their salaries to trim costs. I wonder if any of the management staff at Modine are willing to live on lower salaries in order that some jobs might be saved?

to JanesvilleHero......who are you to think that you are so righteous as to condemn others? You have offended many, many good and hard-working citizens of this community. My father for one. He worked at GM...then entered the military and put in 24 years of military service and retired from there...came back to GM and until he reached retirement age. He was an outstanding man and of excellent character who accepted people from all walks of life. Do YOu? Obviously not. Your are an embarrassment, hopefully, to those who know you. Your reference to the quality of people in Jansville is disgusting. Look around you. Perhaps you need to do some self analysis for how people view you. Your user name "JanevilleHero" is not befitting of someone who makes comments like you just have.

My heart goes out to these workers and others who are experiencing job loss. COBRA benefits are being offered. Sounds wonderful. But COBRA premiums are more expensive than the premium paid while being an employee. Some unemployed workers might be able to afford the benefit through some other means. But for many unemployed, it's just not possible.
On Janesville gets another parts store

Janesville seems to be growing in used car businesses and automotive stores. This city doesn't need more of these places. I wonder how they all stay in business. The old Hardee's building might have made a great Starbucks or Victor Allens coffee house. Or, how about bringing in another bagel store? Panera Bread restaurant? So many other ideas...

The people at Alliant's customer service are helpful, however, the payment arrangement system isn't. They ask what will work for you and when you do offer a reasonable payment plan, they say no and so the arrangement in reality is what they want. So to say that Alliant will work with you is false. More hardship is created just trying to meet the arrangments and future payment plan. I am quite frugal with the heating and electricity usage but Alliant Energy's rates just keep going up and up. And those increases happen often and are always justified to us...all of which I am tired of. I do pay my bills and do not live lavishly. Due to an unforseen emergency, I had to make a choice to hold off paying a few utility bills. Alliant's payment arrangement system is not helpful. I believe the company thinks the only thing we have to pay is the utility bill and that all of our money should go to them.

raystone...I agree. $26,000?? This cost is absurd. Yes. Place a few good ads in some great newspapers. A search firm is not necessary, especially at that fee rate.
