I just want to clarify I am not against community gardens. I am bothered with the lack of communication with the neighbors that surround the Washington park regarding this garden.

It would have been nice if they would of asked for input from the neighbors of the park or the property owners prior to deciding on the location of the garden within the park. It also would have been nice if they would have given the neighbors of the park ANY information regarding the community garden going in at Washington Park.

This is a great accolade for the City of Janesville to have the recogntion that our fire service program has educated a person to such an extent that he was found to be the best person to lead all the Fire Chiefs in our country. It is great that Chief Grorud can bring all this additional knowledge that he is learning during this year as president back to our city.

I know this family personally and the excitement hearing this story from them was amazing. You always believe that miracles are possible, but it is great to see something miraculous happen to people who deserve it!
On Teachers protest, ask for public support

I am one of the private school teachers spoken of in an earlier post. I understand that yes as a teacher I have my summers and holidays off, and I know it is my choice to work the extra hours that I put in. As a first year teacher I have probably put in an extra 30-40 hours a week in the first semester as a teacher. Yes this was my decision, and yes I am going to continue. I find the words submitted earlier that the public school teachers should just "shut up and do your job" like the private school teachers insulting. As teachers we are doing this job because we love it, and for the most part a little appreciation is all we need. Do I continually look for a job where I can find higher pay and better benefit options - of course I am young and need to think about my future. If I was offered a similar contract that I currently have in a public school would I take it - no. Their is a difference between public and private schools. Where the funding comes from. The public school has alot more options for funding.

I personally saw the disappointment in the eyes of one of the young ladies that has had poms ripped away from her. This is such a tragedy...let the woman coach!
