On Beloit hospital, clinic to merge

Posted on November 17 at 3:28 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

luvinlife: you qoute a statistic but you don't have all of the facts that go with it. How about the fact that Beloit's demographics regarding the race of people and poverty levels. It is a fact that certain ethinic people do not go to the doctor right away and prolong a potential disease until it is gone way past the time to even hope on a positive outcome. And it is also a known fact that when you don't have insurance or income to pay for the dr's appointment or medicines that you go to the dr's only when you are taken there after someone calls for an ambulance. Looking at 1 statistic is misleading but reiterating it as the whole truth is ignorant. Look at all the facts not just what you what to "qoute to make it sound as though you know what is going on at Beloit". I do know what is going on and this has been being talked about for a few years...even before Dean's decided to build in Janesville.

On Chinese plan goes before school board Tuesday

Yes it does sound like a great offer for the kids...but why only 2 of the schools and why Chinese...why not Spanish or other languages....I remember in 3rd grade, took a month or so of French and it was fun. But we only did it for a month and never had it offered again until Junior High (yes Junior High when I went 7th, 8th, 9th).

On Man arrested for seventh OWI offense

It states a "Janesville man" but list his address as Beloit. Does that mean that Beloit is now a suburb of Janesville?

On Councilmen question extra pay for event

Posted on October 6 at 1:09 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

From reading some of these posts, I think some people are not understanding the problem. It is not that they don't pay the overtime for hours worked. It is that they are using overtime to pick up this trash instead of working it into the regular 40 hour shift. And the fact that the money alotted was removed by the city council but yet the city personnel still worked OVERTIME HOURS for this program, shows that somewhere the budget was not followed or documented correctly. Any why is it only in the downtown areas...why not for everyone with city trash collection? Doesn't see fair and equal to all tax payers.

On Update: Favre coming back with Vikings

Posted on August 18 at 12:32 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I guess that he also wants the record for most indecisive committment decision, or the most times 1 person can retire from the same job, or the most teams a player can play for (I heard that after next years retirement announcement he is going to sign with the Bears, and the year after that Seattle, and so on...). I guess he just cant leave the lime light (or he needs the money as his investments are not doing so good- speculation on my part).

On Partially mummified remains found in Madison home

MrScott: I also thought that it was not natural but with a little research I found this info: "Natural mummification occurs in favorable soils and climates, particularly cold, arid areas, ice, and peat bogs."-http://encyclopedia2.thefreedictionary.com/Mummified+body.

On Murder charges dropped against inmate

I am amazed at how fast people start putting their 2 cents in. Do you personally know all of the facts? Did you see or witness the trial and all of the evidence? Do you know what the DNA found or who it was from or where it was taken from? I agree the system is not perfect, but we are humans and if found guilty over 25 years ago by a jury of peers, then there must have been more evidence that proved "beyond a reasonable doubt" that he was guilty. And with that I would like 3 cents change for your 2 cents of input.

On Will loss of QEO hurt or help education?

Posted on July 31 at 9:11 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Again, here is my take. The QEO was wrong to start with...a person should be able to get a proper wage raise for the performace they do. Saying that, if the performace is poor, then they should not get a good raise, if any. I am educated and work in industry and a raise is based on my performance and the company's performance and if either are lacking, then the raise is small (and this year there was a cut in salary). So why should teachers (or any other government based position) be allowed to bargain (union) a raise when most free market industries can cut cost by reducing the work force and wages? Answer: Because the union forgets where the money comes from (the tax payers) and may think that the money from the government is free. They forget that they are also part of that good old "national debt" that is in the trillions of dollars. We all work hard, even the teachers, but if you want a job that pays for 180 days (compared to my 250 days) then your yearly salary is going to be less. If you want more then work all year long like me (and 45-50 hours a week).

On UPDATE: Two injured in I-90 crash

Posted on July 10 at 11:40 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

This is the case to where the vehicle merging did not yield (as required by law). Merging vehicles must yield to the traffic and most people think that it is the other way around. The car was probably trying to get up to speed and didn't either see the motorcycle or was paying too much attention to behind her and was not watching where she was going....This was an accident (my prayers go out to the brother's of the 2 wheels)and the only prevention is better attention to drivers. As a emergency provider I am required to take a driving skill test every year...so why don't we require skill compentancy testing every 8 years when we renew our license...that would help people maintain their skills better.
