@bebe, you will have to wait for arbitration decisions to be come public. Proposals are just what they are proposals. Several of the Milwaukee suburbs had those proposals put in front of them. They are being fought. I don't have any links to spit out. I don't really care if you choose to believe me on this or not. I have personal knowledge of this and when the media actually gets the decisions I think people will be shocked.

@bebe, the detuctibles in many, many cases are in excess of 10 thousand dollars. Governor Walker made it so that no one can negotiate health care period. The result has been chaos in local government. Even with the Walker cuts most police and fire departments are eliminating positions either through retirement or layoffs. For all the Walker people, wake up and smell the coffee he hasn't changed a thing other than start class warefare. He balanced the State of Wisconsin budget on the backs of the employees. Yes something had to change, what that thing should have been was LESS SPENDING all the way around. We all get it, however Public Employees can't go ask for raises when the economy turns around. IT has never happened that way. Do you want your Police Officers to recieve merit pay based on Arrests? Tickets? You tell me. There is no majic pill to fix any of this. I believe Walker should have been up front, if he had he would not have been elected. He didn't win by all of that much.
On Brunner undecided on Janesville City Council position

taxandspend, you should go and do an occupy the courthouse movement! The State Police does not exist in Wisconsin. They are called the State Patrol and for the most part do not investigate anything of a criminal nature. DCI and the Public Integrity Bureau would work on crimes with political status. This isn't the case. George Brunner acted like a human being and made a mistake. He is held to a higher standard based on his former job and his Status in local government, as this is already in the media. Things like this happen all the time with normal people and they don't get in the newspaper.

I am not sure this is a good measure of what is being taught. My daughter has ADHD bad and we are having trouble getting it fixed. Her test scores are horrible and they really should have no bearing on the teacher. This law would be tough on my daughter's teachers. It is no fault of theirs that she cannot sit still or pay attention long enought to retain. Maybe the Doctors should get fired for not fixing her. Maybe I as a parent should be fired as I cannot fix her. Where do you draw the line here??

Darien does not have a desk Officer, one person on the road at a time and yes they have a Parks Department. Donna I am glad you think that is outside the box. As a taxpayer in Darien I would rather have the Police Patrolling rather than cleaning.

I am happy to hear that they are going to take down those ugly buildings. I am not in favor or building a new Village Hall, but getting rid of those buildings is huge for the downtown. On another note I was told that the Village is saving money by having their Officers clean the Police Department. On the surface this sounds like a great idea, but having an Officer who gets paid $20 something per hour clean seems like a waste of resources. There are many employees on the Parks Department that get paid much less, maybe those employees could clean and the Patrol persons, Patrol.....

Clinton made such a move a few years ago and the new trash containers were really nice! The recycling went to bi-weekly and they never really got filled up. I have since moved and miss the really big containers. Not all change is bad...
