Go, Wilson! Couldn't have said it better myself. Lying Ryan is only for his rich cronies.

The teachers provide a service to me just like my barber or car mechanic provides a service to me. I would never dream of telling them that I am paying their salary or they wouldn't have their health insurance or other benefits if I didn't use their service. Why does the public think teachers don't deserve their hard-earned salary because WE paid for it. I've got news for you. You must pay for any service you receive. Why do you think teachers are different. And please don't try saying they are overpaid or they should do it for the children. Who doesn't go to work to earn a living and provide for their own family??? GEEZ....get off the teachers' backs.

Thank you, teachers. According to the article, the $$$$ for all of this technology is coming from you. Thanks for contributing some of your salary and benefits to buy supplies for the kids.

Why are the majority of these comments bashing teachers? They are the ones with the least amount of sick leave granted. Funny. They are working directly with kids that come to school sick, yet they have the fewest days. All of this Janesville hate for teachers is amazing. Watch out. Sometimes you get what you wish for. Many top teachers are leaving. Can you blame them. They receive nothing but criticism--from their own school board to this community. Watch what will happen when top teacher candidates refuse to work here because of the reputation Janesville is earning for their anti- education platform. Janesville will be hiring the teachers that cannot find a job anywhere else, or they will have teachers stay a year or two and leave once they feel the hate spewed toward them from this community.

Education has become a business. When we start worrying about making a profit rather than teaching students, we are in trouble. Why do you think all the focus on test scores. Republican- owned mega publishers are making billions with all this new push for test scores.

Thanks to the 17 teachers listed in this article for all of the service you provided to this community! Thank you in advance to all the other Janesville teachers out there who will decide to retire this year because of circumstances beyond their control. You have done nothing to deserve so many rude and ridiculous comments in these posts. When did it become such a bad thing to be a teacher? I loved my teachers and think of them often. Where would I be without them?
What other profession is expected to "donate" as much as the teachers? When I go to the doctor, he doesn't treat me without sending me a bill. Didn't that doctor go into medicine because he wanted to help the sick? When I go to get my car serviced, I must pay. Didn't the auto mechanic choose that field for his love of cars. How dare that auto mechanic charge me!!!! He should do it because he LOVES his work. (Sarcasm)
Teachers, after all, have families just like you and I that they need to support. They provide a service to this community. Let's applaud them rather than shoot them down.
Shame on each and every one of you who left a nasty comment! You wouldn't be able to write that comment if a teacher had not taught you how to read and write!

This is BEYOND stupid! I thought the school board was supposed to support their teachers--not try to "stick it to them"? Seriously, what kind of revenue will this generate? The only thing it will do is make the teachers in our city feel even worse about themselves than they already do.
Run, teachers, as fast as you can! This state and now this city hate you!

@wiscokid......I have to agree with you. United Alloy is a joke. They do all they can to "look" like they are a wonderful employer, but their work force is like a revolving door. The president is all about herself and just looking good. Would never recommend anyone work there. No wonder they can't find employees!

On Milton school staff morale at ‘all-time low’ over plan, teachers say

Why are teachers' salaries always quoted with their benefits included? The private sector never does that. We don't hear about their bonuses, their country club memberships, profit sharing, insurance costs, company cars, 401K matches......or anything else for that matter. We only hear about their base salary. However, teachers continually have their benefits thrown in their faces when really the retirement, as I understand it, is simply deferred wages. What that means, is that their retirement is THEIR money that they have earned.....they must wait until they retire to get it.
Shame on Janesville/Milton for constantly bashing their teachers. Someone in an earlier post said there was 70+ openings in Janesville, so I looked. They were right, and I am sure this is just the beginning since school isn't even over for the year. This should send the community a LOUD message.
