On Milton to use consultant to find superintendent

Posted on January 29 at 7:45 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Nothing shows a complete lack of competence and faith in their own abilities , as well as fear of public backlash if something else goes wrong, like paying out another $11-13k to have a consulting firm come in and essentially do your job. Bravo, School District of Milton. Bravo. "Robber" Roy and crew are simply genius.

On Delavan Rescue Squad set to close its doors

Posted on January 16 at 2:21 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Medics will be taking over DRSI.
Now if someone would only investigate the mismanagement of finances by the board president, board treasurer, chief, and the rest of the board members as well as unauthorized and illegal use of station vehicles used for personal transport, etc. Again, it would be very eye opening as to where all of the money has been going over the past few years. And let's not forget the numerous issues and cases with the NLRB.

On Delavan Rescue Squad set to close its doors

The issue of Delavan Rescue having "financial troubles" and being at risk of closing has been an issue for many years. Financial troubles happen when the board and their associates mismanage funds. I do not blame the city of Delavan one bit. You cannot mismanage funds then cry to the city every month for a loan so you can make minimum payroll. A lot of good talent has come and gone through the doors of Delavan Rescue - none of which were board members. Mismanagement, changes in bylaws to secure that the board was able to make decisions (financial and management) without the votes of all members, and other misdeeds over years have lead to this happening. A few years ago some employees got together to try to remedy the issue and make changes in the makeup of the board members. Those who did stand up were fired immediately or eventually or they left the squad. Do not blame the city of Delavan for not funding the squad and claim the city is being greedy with their own funds. Blame the board of Delavan Rescue and a few key people for lining their own pockets and being underhanded and shady. It is a shame...Delavan Rescue was there for 60+ years. Lots of good people over the years were let go or left due to all of the mismanagement and the board members fears of being exposed. City of Delavan: I would not waste my time negotiating any contract with Delavan Rescue without first completely cleaning house and also doing an investigation on the Delavan Rescue financials over the past 6 years along with the actions of the board and their chief. Then maybe you all will see what happened to the money and why DRSI failed.

On Quaker Steak & Lube targets former Damon's Grill site

This is GREAT news! I do business at small, local businesses as well as franchise businesses in JVL so the fact that it is another franchise with a good reputation for great food moving into a prime location is wonderful for JVL and will create some new jobs for area residents. Plus, if you look at that area off of the interstate at 14/Deerfield there are no other restaurants like Quaker Steak over there unless you count Fuddruckers (I have no idea how they stay in business or why they are even busy. IMO WORST restaurant in JVL.)

On UPDATE: Details released in Garrow resignation

$122k, $35k just for the heck of it, and a glowing letter of recommendation.
Wow. Just for simply showing a Facebook photo and maybe having beers with staff.
I seriously need to get a district job. I can lie, half a## do my job, chase my dreams, fiddle on Facebook, AND not work. And get paid nearly $157k!!! WHHOOPPPIIIEEEE!

On BREAKING: Garrow resigning, getting pay and severance

Again, well said Mexicron7. The board obviously mishandled the entire matter. And I agree: the board needs term limits. Also when a person runs for school board they should run for the position on the board they intend to serve, i.e. president, clerk, etc. 12 or 18 years of the same people making terrible decisions and acting in an unethical manner is ENOUGH.
And the "terms" of Garrow's settlement seem hazy at best. Will he be receiving the 35k in addition to the salary or in lieu of the salary?

JoyM - an article on Channel3000 says he will receive a postive letterbof reference.
Mexicron7 - well stated.

So let me get this straight: I see teachers and administrators on a daily basis who dress like hookers or slobs in the district but a photo made a staff member uncomfortable and THIS was what the issue was with Garrow? BWAHAHA! Hardly. Maybe it happened but more than likely it was a means to an end to oust an outsider from the sacred world of Milton. Good job, Roy and the rest of the board. Spring elections can't come soon enough.

My many thanks to Mr. Angus, Mr. Schultz, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Peck, Mr. Eyster and all at the Janesville Gazette for not letting the "mess" in Milton fall by the wayside and be yet another cover-up in the district. As taxpayers we have the right to know what our elected officials are doing with our money. As a parent I feel like I have a right to know what is going on in my childrens school district and this is all part of what I feel is my "right to know". Since no crime was committed (as far as any of us are aware) then keep the updates coming, Gazette!!
As far as Milton School Board is concerned...election season is around the corner. I CANNOT WAIT.
