He is correct that a cougar/mtn. lion retracts its claws, unless it is spooked and agitated.

I wouldn't vote for the woman, but having some basic notes to organize ones thoughts and talking points shouldn't be berated and surely isn't quality subject matter of a news story. Rick if this is the most news worthy topic you have to write about then there should be a job layoff in your future.

Four years ago I had a van do a non stop U-turn right in front of me that resulted in me T-boning the van. My truck was totalled. The driver of the van was an illegal alien who didn't have a drivers license. The driver of the van was found to be 100% at fault for the accident. My first thought was that if they didn't have a drivers license then they probably didn't have insurance. I was already preparing to pay out of pocket for the replacement of my truck or watch my premium go up if I made the claim on my insurance. However, the van owner wasn't the driver and the van had been registered in North Carolina, which already has a mandatory insurance law like this in place. The van owner's insurance company covered the loss of my truck without my premium going up. What are the chances of that same van having insurance if it had been registered in Wisconsin? Slim to none?!

Facebook09, this blog is exactly the forum by which Hannah should be pointing out mistakes my by the Gazette Staff. People do read these forum posts and when people point out where the Gazette can improve, both the Gazette and its readers benefit. If one is to simply send them an email it has no real weight behind it because it is just a single view seen only by single email recipient who then can easily dismiss it (if they read at all) ... but when it becomes the main theme of the blog/forum section by those of us posting to it, then the staff at the Gazette is more likely to take it a bit more serious simply because there are significantly more who read the artcle and the blogs/posts but don't actually post to blog/forum.

The fact that people buy into the concept of bi-partisanship in first place is a testament to how gullible people are and why this state and nation is as bad off as it is.

Typical party politics...both parties cost the tax payers, the Democrats for getting lawyers involved and a stonewalling Republican with bad record management skills. You can take it to the bank that a big chunk of the $38K (if not all of it) will be funneled right back into the Democratic party. And why isn't the Republican party stepping up to bail out its card carrying voter constituency who are paying for it twice, once through their campaign contributions and again on their taxes. All political parties are pathetic.

It isn't relieving the burden, it is shifting the burden. If you haven't noticed their is a growing swell of public opinion and activism that would "Throw the tea in the harbour" to your idea. NO MORE TAXES...property, sales or any other kind. It is time for public institutions to live within their means just like those of us have to.

"The Hooters waitress uniform includes tight, low-neck tank tops and short shorts over panty hose."
So how is that different than the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader uniforms or ENERGEE! DANCE TEAM for the Milwaukee Bucks? This young lady has work ethics and should be rewarded for it, not pentalized.

Perhaps it time we look at the leadership at the school because in this instance, they are not doing the right thing.

On Cougar sightings reported, but proof is rare
Posted on August 30 at 12:47 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
Excited cougars/mountain lions do show there claws in the tracks. The DNR's own website for identifying tracks state that claws can be seen in tracks. As for attacking the neck, a cougar will attempt to attack the neck, that doesn't mean it is succussful every time. When it misses, which it does so far more times than it has successes, the large cats will cause the exact type of claw marks being described. The visual sightings of a large cat are hard to dispute ... nothing looks or sounds like a large cat.
