On Hospitals are designed more like hotels to improve patient care

Before Mercy should be worrying about the look or atmosphere of their facilities, maybe they should focus on the actual care they provide. I have several horror stories about Mercy, both the clinics and hospital, but it's sad to me that EVERY visit has some sort of negative story to tell. Just last night I had to go to the ER for a chronic problem. There was dried blood on the bed rail in the room, and when I alerted the nurse she said "oh, that should be fine". It was not cleaned up while I was there, if at all. I was given a dose of medicine that should have required me to be picked up and driven home by a friend or relative, but instead the doctor said "drive safe and good luck" as I headed out the door. I understand that they are "busy" and "understaffed" or "remodeling" but, to me, that is no excuse for poor care.

I'm sure there are several people on either side of this argument, but I have very little pity for people who purchase property that require them to follow such obligations and then cry about "government control" when they have to live up to them. They should have been well aware of requirements prior to purchasing the property, and if they weren't then that's on them. If they don't like the obligations that come with owning such a property then attempt to sell it so someone what will.

Thank you Kenny for pointing out where/what it currently is. I knew the building looked famailiar, but couldn't place it until you mentioned that. I'm younger than most people who know what/where these older buildings are, but I think it's a shame they're allowed to deteriorate like they have.

I recieved an e-mail about this from Walgreens last week. Sadly, this is the third time I've recieved such an e-mail from them. I understand hackers are out there, and it's hard to stop them, but three times at the same company?! Hopefully they get their act together, there's a lot of people who may fall for one of these scams.

If Slantrax wasn't as affordable as it is, I would choose to go elsewhere. It used to be a friendly and clean place, at least when Pauly was around. I don't believe Carole ever cleans the beds between customers, which means you're left to do it yourself. I personally choose to clean a bed even if the staff already has, but it's just the point. If you way someone for a service, then they should provide it. If they continue to slack the way they do, the business will be gone fast!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the lights on Milwaukee are timed; if you go the posted 25mph speed limit you hit all the lights. So how is converting it to a two way street going to slow anything down? Just curious.

Really Manana? I think you may be thinking of MRSA carriers, not a person who currently has a MRSA infection. I was infected with MRSA about four-ish years ago, and ended up hospitalized for it. I was extremely ill, and was informed by a doctor that it can in fact be fatal. Being a carrier, however, in itself is not fatal; and this is when your immune system can be compromised as you touched on when you talked about healing cuts and such. Also, MRSA is fairly common. I heard somewhere around 20% of people have been infected at some point in their lives. If you work in a health care setting, which is the jist I got from reading your comments, then you may want to get better informed on your facts. If not for yourself, for the people you may be putting at risk with your misinformation.

Has everyone forgotten, a young life was lost and there are family and friends still suffering?! Not a single one of you has the right to act all high and mighty talking and acting the way you currently are, you should be ashamed of yourselves. I doubt the victim was entirely innocent, you are the company you keep. But have we all lived our entire lives with a clean conscience? Have we never done questionable things or commited questionable acts? Some act in a way and do things that may be percieved as more serious than others, but at the end of the day it is not our place to pass judgement on a bunch of people we do not know just in a pitiful attempt to feel holier than though.

prounion: It is not a religious organization, it is actually connected to Mercy Health Systems. And to the left of the article it says, "To volunteer at House of Mercy, call (608) 754-0045, and ask for Erin Loveland, volunteer coordinator."
Truly an amazing resource in our community, so offer a safe and temporary yet somewhat stable place to aid families in getting back on their feet. Bless the staff and volunteers for all that they do!
