jvillean said "To my mind, there is no such thing as a truly free market, and the democratic system should allow for public interventions in that market to benefit the people".
Holy Extreme Naïveté Batman! Who decides which "public interventions"? Nice euphemism BTW! I would prefer "gubmint intrusions". And who decides what benefits the people? You see, that's the fly in the ointment. Someone(s) in gubmint make decisions that affect the rest of us in the real world (usually in a bad way), with no special knowledge or skill, and certainly little or no accountability (can you say Community Reinvestment Act?). And my last question - how does one measure the results of gubmint intrusion? As in the Broken Window Fallacy, that which is unseen cannot be measured, and thus the damaging results of gubmint intrusion into private markets, while very real, is unmeasurable.

Pretty easy to do a quick walkthrough to see if anyone or anything was left behind. Since we know this happens from time to time, it should be common sense - we shouldn't need a policy or a procedure for it. Glad he or she was unharmed.

I always have a hard time reading an article when there's a typo in the first sentence - arghhh.

I do find that, the more interesting a person is, the easier it is to remember the name (provided I haven't already forgotten it by the time I deem them interesting).

I hope everyone realizes that the only reason the unemployment number is falling is that the government does not count those that are no longer receiving unemployment compensation.
Your UC runs out - voila! You're no longer unemployed! It's like magic.
The truth is that this is the worst economy I have ever witnessed, and that includes the "stagflation" of the Jimmy Carter years. I doubt that this country can survive another four years of "stimulus" - it has not only failed, it has made things much worse.

Considering that circumnavigating the planet at the equator is about 25,000 miles, that's quite a trip these generators are taking!

I couldn't read the article because I couldn't get past the first sentence.
"City officials hope a 50 percent increase in the fine for parking on the street during a snow emergency will accomplish was seven years of warnings has not: better compliance".
What does this mean: "will accomplish was"???

Gubmint needs to leave it alone. Stay out of the private economy, all you will do is make things worse.
