On Kohl faces questions in Janesville

Posted on August 18 at 9:17 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

raystone – you weren’t paying attention at this forum. Kohl did give “one” direct answer. He did state that he would not vote for a health care bill that would include coverage for illegal aliens. Now let’s see if he holds to his promise.

Other that that, it was just another song and dance.

My dogs sleep on the bed and sofas. I sleep frozen to the sidewalk. Good thing I’m “morbidly obese”.

On Edgerton Fire plans to hire full-time chiefs

Posted on October 3 at 7:11 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

From what I hear, the three Edgerton firefighters that were hired by Janesville worked very hard at getting the training they need to be qualified. I think they were even certified paramedics. They were also very community minded. The three employees that formed the union didn’t even have the minimum qualifications to apply as a firefighter on the Janesville department. Their concerns were more about themselves than the community.
.
Qualified firefighters are deserving of anything that the union can negotiate, but whenever anyone refers to three former EFD employees as firefighters, including the Gazette, it’s an insult to real firefighters that have worked hard to be where they are.

On Edgerton Fire plans to hire full-time chiefs

I heard that even though the lawsuit has been settled, the union won’t permit any firefighters on the Janesville fire department to volunteer for the Edgerton fire department, however they are permitted to serve on other volunteer departments in surrounding communities.
.
Stacey Vogel – can the Gazette check this out to see if it’s true? If it is, it would be pretty good reading to find out what their logic is and why they are continuing to do things that hurt the Edgerton community.

On Sheiffer maximizes benefits

If Sheiffer was waffling about retiring, why did they negotiate with him? Why didn’t let his contract automatically renew on Dec. 31 and trade him to New York?

On Referendum fails in Town of Fulton

I served on a local government for a while. The most complaints I heard during that time were about the streets and roads in front of their homes or the ones they drove on frequently. It looks like it’s the same everywhere. Most people want things perfect but few are willing to pay for it. Meanwhile, the non-doers fire cheap shots at the doers.

On Town looks to raise taxes for road repair

1919eternal - Why are you blaming your Town Board for this? They identified a pending crisis, proposed a fiscally responsible solution and are giving the citizens the opportunity to decide if they want to accept that solution. Don’t shoot the messenger just because you don’t like the message.
.
Maybe you should run for your Town Board. While you are patting yourself on the back and bragging to your buddies about how much money you saved them, you’d better be figuring out how to explain why you need them to come up with 10 time that amount when the roads deteriorate beyond repair and will need to be replaced. You also will need to rehearse how you rationalized the benefit of the immediate cost savings you and your buddies got to the surviving family members of those killed in car accidents due to your bad roads.

On Democrats line up to challenge Ryan

So janesvillemom claims to be a registered independent. I wasn’t aware that Wisconsin registered any party, much less an independent. Those that are truly independent objectively consider the positions of all candidates and make educated decisions on Election Day based on unbiased consideration of available reliable information.
.
Once one decides to take selected information regarding a candidate or party and promote it, they have lost the opportunity to be considered independent. They are now forced to either defend that position or admit they were wrong.
.
Personally, I consider myself to be independent, albeit somewhat to the right because I have more faith in free enterprise than socialism. I have known Paul Ryan, Mark Neumann and Jeff Thomas on either a personal or business basis unrelated to politics. Although all three probably assumed that I voted for them, Paul is the only one that earned my vote, because I believe in his sincerity of working for his constituents.
.
I will not cast a vote for any of the three democratic candidates on this Tuesday’s primary election because I haven’t had the opportunity to evaluate which one is best. I will take the time to learn about the winner of that contest and in November I will vote for the candidate that I feel will represent what I believe to be in our best interests, regardless of party affiliation or personal friendship. That’s the way true independent voters operate.

Mr. Angus, please cancel my subscription too. I consider myself politically middle of the road and everything you print is either to the left or to the right. In fact, I’m so upset that I plan on closing my eyes when I read your free online edition.
