I agree. Hockey is so fun. I will attend the games. I really enjoy hockey and HOT CHOCOLATE. What I don't agree with is alcohol at the games. I find it a little disturbing that we are trying to find a way to repair our drunk driving laws on the front page and on the next page bringing alcohol to a function such as hockey. My son skates there every Friday night. If they bring alcohol to the ice arena he will no longer be skatig there. I along with many many other parents feel the same. A very active member of AA has stated that " People do not know how to have functions without alcohol" Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, holidays etc.....Now hockey in Janesville. People wonder why Wisconsin has the highest drunk driving rate in the COUNTRY.....

On Jail death consistent with hanging

Trish,
In 1996 there was an inmate that was arrested and booked at the jail. While he was being booked he was asked a series of questions as are all inmates. One of the questions states. " Are you or have you ever considered suicide" the inmate answered yes he had or he was. The result of a yes answer is that the booking officer is to immediately contact the commanding officer in charge to do an evaluation of the inmate. In this particular situation NO commanding officer was EVER contacted. The inmate was put into population and the questionaire was filed. No follow up until the man died in his cell six days later. Hanging by a bed sheet. In this case a guard should have helped him and didn't. The result....Suicide. This man died at 3:34pm. Same thing. Just after shift change and he too was in his cell alone.
My question is this...The jails are overcrowded, inmates sleeping in the halls on the floor and yet this young man committs suicide in a cell that he had to himself??? Time for someone to answer some questions.
My heart and prayers go out to this young man's family. What a tradegy. Maybe his parents should hire a lawyer and have question 13 on the questionaire investigated. Hope I am wrong.

On East Troy woman gets five years in fatal overdose case

This is a crazy topic. I know I would also rather see pot be legal before alcohol or opiates. People think that because a doctor prescribes pain meds that they are safe and ok and because pot is illegal it is bad. As far as the pain clinic monitoring your medicine bottle, yes they do. I have been there. But I also know that 1000 other Dr.'s hand out prescription after prescription and they have NO clue what is happening to the medication. Pot hasn't killed anyone that I have ever heard of but alcohol and opiates have claimed countless lives.

I just have to comment that the paper says she was given a prescription for Methadone for a back injury?

Found this interesting.FDA further advised that methadone doses for pain should be carefully selected, slowly titrated and carefully monitored by the prescribing physician. As of January 1, 2008, manufacturers of 40 mg methadone hydrochloride dispersible tablets have voluntarily agreed to restrict distribution of this formulation to only those facilities authorized for detoxification and maintenance treatment of opioid addiction, and hospitals. The 40 mg product is not FDA approved for use in the management of pain.

I wonder if this was done.

It was Nicole's Mom arrested about a month ago wasn't it. I didn't even make the connection. How sad id that? I'm fighting to help my son while this Mother is destroying her daughter. Maybe upbringing does matter in this case.

I understand your point. SO many parents do defend the wrong their children have done and often look to place blame.
I, myself have never blamed anyone for my son's addiction. He knows right from wrong. He knew not to take that Oxycontin from his best friends Dad. But he made the choice and now struggles with his decision everyday. But I do blame his addiction for his actions while he was using. He would NOT have done criminal acts had he not been using. He is a good person that did bad things. I have called the police on my son countless times for the stolen property I had found. When he used I called the police. When I found out he had stolen prescription drugs from homes he was invited into, I called the police. He had to be held accountable. He thanks me to day. I'm sorry you're the target of blame. For some people they place blame to make the pain easier.

These kids stole for drug money and your father has driven drunk putting countless lives at risk..Yet you still call them trash? Your father also? You have lived the life and it sounds like you are very bitter. I wasn't referring to education when I said you were uneducated. People live through addiction and alcoholism and are still uneducated. It's very sad that you will pass judgement on someone that lives next door to you. You shouldn't throw stones at glass houses. I'm glad you are going to school to be a firefighter/paramedic. I hope you can keep your true feelings about addicts away from work, who knows, you may have to safe the life of a piece of trash someday. I also don't mean to offend you. You are entiltled to your opinion. But so am I.

For all the comments...
I do claim my tips, I do like my job, I am good at it so I won't quit. I work maybe 30 hours a week, have flexibility, insurance and alot of time with my kids. I don't have to wait until Friday to have the weekend off or kiss %#$ to get a promotion at I job I already hate. The only point I was trying to make was that people can be demanding, cheap, and very rude. To make the money I make I will not quit and work in a factory because I am kind to my guests and I take care of even the demanding, cheap and very rude because I don't have a bad attitude. You are right. Some people are NOT cut out to be servers and I have worked with my share of them. But that should fall on the managment staff. If they aren't good..Get rid of them so people have good service. But good service doesn't mean a good tip or any tip at all.
