On Feds, MPD round up drug dealers

The statistics show that alcohol does kill more people than cocaine. That doesn't make it the lesser of two evils, however, in my mind.
On Person found dead after Evansville fire

This is very sad. My condolences to the family and friends of the person who died. My thoughts are also with the firefighters. I would imagine that it is difficult to know someone can't be saved. Thank you for always doing all that you can.
On No more tears: Favre tells agent to tell Jets he’s really through playing

BostonBill: Yes, Brett Favre is human. But guess what? So are you and so am I. And, I also know that I was not the only one who wanted Favre "to stick it to Thompson". Maybe this year I will just let Thompson stick to himself.
On Family ponders suit in murder-suicide

I was figuring it was about time to get an update on this. BalancePoint, won't any potential judgment in favor of the family come from our insurance providers? I know that would likely cause a rate hike, but the monetary award would not come from taxpayers ... or do counties and/or cities not carry this type of insurance? I also wonder how long this forum will get to stay open this time. It got pretty heated last time.

MikeF: Thanks for the link to the photo. I never expected "Fried Book Worms" to be so darn cute! Great job, girls. And to all who took part in the competition, you should be proud of yourselves ... I know that we, the public, are proud of you!
On Teen pregnancies are up in the Beloit School District

Klick: I don't think teen-agers get pregnant for a freebie. Have they quit handing out condoms in addition to no longer teaching the facts and risks about sexual activity? I think I also read somewhere that at least one non-profit agency that helps educate teen-agers and provides access to birth control is at risk of shutting down. I have been wondering if the birth rate will increase among all age groups as money available to spend on leisure activities drops in this economy and people are spending more time at home. You know, kind of like what happens nine months after a huge snowstorm.
On Semi rollover causing delays

Employment usually has me commuting via Interstate 90 from Janesville to Madison or down to Rockford, IL. I've done that most of the time since 1995 (when not temporarily unemployed as I am again now). That span of I-90 is increasingly more congested and dangerous. (Although the speed-thru toll near South Beloit has helped tremendously at that point in the route.) I've been in two accidents while at a total stop (due to accidents farther up in front of me). One was a major one in which I had to be extricated from the car. Luckily, I was found to be 100 percent NOT at fault in either incident. Both times, I was slammed from behind by out-of-state drivers traveling too closely and driving way over the speed limit. I pray there is never a third accident because it might kill me. By dad used to say that part of the problem is that drivers from Illinois have been driving in the 80 mph-to-90 mph range before they cross over into Wisconsin and have trouble dropping to a consistently lower speed. This past Monday, I had a Hummer with Illinois plates riding my rear at about 80 mph before the lady driving it finally switched to the left lane. All I could think was: "It must be nice to drive that frickin' expensive tank down the Interstate like you're made of money to burn, you b----." I think this economy is starting to get to me. I hope I can surrender before I hit the level StaceyU2 apparently fell to earlier today. Be safe, everyone!

Saddest line in the whole article: "... state projections ... put Rock County's annual unemployment rate at 10.3 percent for this year, 10.7 percent for 2010 and 10.1 for 2011."
