Some of your points are valid, but you aren't doing any justice to your cause by spreading misinformation and ranting like that.
-
The teacher's union has some public relations issues of its own that it needs to iron out. I agree that the people who call it corrupt are wrong, but they have issues.
-
Bill Sodemann's children do attend Parker High School; however, that shouldn't be a litmus test for public service.
-
There are quite a few teachers that do find Dr. Schulte an effective superintendent.
-
What salary would you like the board to return? They are volunteers.

This thread of discussion has headed down the same predictable path as many of the postings on Gazettextra.com - People finding reasons to be offended and parsing of words. A word of advice, open your minds and attempt to find the intent of the post and not try and read into them so much. This is addressed to both sides, educator and non.
-
I understand why people get so fired up. Educators feel (I think rightly so) that they shouldn't be demonized for negotiating for the best deal they can get.
-
Also, I get that people are in tough times and don't feel like they have anything more to give, or at least shouldn't be asked to give more when they are financially strapped.
-
It comes down to this - educators need to be patient and show restraint. The public isn't against you, they are against tax increases. Public, address your concerns to the school board; they are the ones we elect to make these decisions. If we disagree or have opinions, the responsibility is on them.

yeah, waste of time. This woman seems like someone that should have just been left alone with her kids. Give me a break.

To those who want a sign.... There is one, it says, "Caution. Traffic May Not Yield."
-
This is the problem, traffic may not yield.
-
I would like to know what the upkeep costs are of a tunnel versus general trail maintenance. If it is not substantial, we should maybe look at this cost not as a one time sticker shock, but as a long term investment that will used for years to come.

Although I agree with the fact that some pedestrians are not exercising common sense in crossing E. Milwaukee, neither are a lot of vehicles.
-
I use the trail almost daily. I don't mind waiting my turn. In fact, most drivers do indeed slow down or stop to allow people to cross. The problem is that there are too many people that don't pay attention or don't feel like they need to stop.
-
Why a tunnel? Because although a stupid pedestrian deserves what is coming to them, a stupid driver kills someone who doesn't deserve it.
-
You can't fix stupid, but you can protect innocent. Are there ways to lessen the problem? Yes, but a tunnel prevents it.

I went on Saturday with two friends. We each spent $13 to get into a place where nothing seemed to be going on. The races were over and there wasn't any music. We each grabbed a snack and left. The three of us spent nearly $50 and felt like we were swindled. We won't be returning unless we hear the ticket price is significantly less.

To Commissioner Sodemann-
I am a teacher in the district. I have read the transcripts of the board meetings (unfortunately I haven't been able to attend the meetings) and I appreciate your calm and common sense approach to the issues. I would be remise if not say that I often find myself in disagreement; however, not often enough to not vote for you. As we continue forward in this difficult process, I am glad to see one who is able to rise above the fray and personal attacks. Your professionalism should be an example to all in the process.
