Suction appendages create a little suction so things stick to it (like an octopus sucking appendage or like small grippers on end of arm tooling not unlike those found in an automated packaging line). Assuming this is the correct reference, wouldn't that mean that the comparing the Jets to a suction appendage infer that the sucking would eventually stop once something is stuck to it and then release it? My guess is that the sucking action won't stop which would make it seem more like a trash pump than a sucking appendage.
