Just because people are in authority doesn't make them infallible and the ends does not always justify the means. I don't blame people for being pawns in the chess game the city is playing with this guy. It's doubtful that all police or council members are bad but people are known by the company you keep. So you should all be glad I'm keeping company with you. I'm sure these people have families and want to keep their jobs too. Anyone who's worked for the police/sherrif department or DA's office knows that it wouldn't take much to lose their job by getting on someones bad side. Many agencies are going under budget cuts and you can bet that the ones they get rid of first are the ones who don't play ball. As far as showing a uniform or suit respect they can earn it just like the rest of us are expected to by doing the right thing.

If I though Janesville was horrible I would move. All I'm saying is that when some people get into a position of power they use it to their own devices and we shouldn't say everything is great if it isn't. If there is anything good going on in this city it's because of the citizens that live here. I wouldn't give those in authority much credit for that.

I like living in Janesville but saying the city is well run is kind of a stretch. Lucky to not be in worse shape then we are yes, better off because it's well run - I highly doubt it. I also doubt if mcs is telling the truth. Thirty years without seeing one case of someone bending the rules? Yeah right - this city is so clean it squeaks.

The DA's office did what they were told. It had nothing to do with best serving the community. Take off the blinders.

Give me a break. Why should O'Leary and Mahan be patted on the back for being pawns in some of the city council members bid to get eevn with Halbach. Please. The next thing you know the Gazette will be publishing stories about aliens landing here.

I would have to have a pretty high opinion of myself to assume that I know what's best for the community. I'd also have to be worried about something that isn't happening to be paranoid. I doubt if I'm the only one that can read the writing on the wall. It's not paranoia if it's actually happening. If I'm the only one who thinks that someone (or more than one) on the council set this all up than maybe I am paranoid. Should the axis of evil be allowed to eradicate something they don't like under the guise of morality even if it is legal? Where should it stop? Maybe we should crucify these two guys burn them at the stake while we're at it. Who will bring the stones so we can throw them while they're being burned at the stake? A truly fitting punishment for people who dare to partake in a legal business venture.

Do you really think that the DA's office made the decision to let him plead out by themselves? The old boys club must have decided they spanked Jim enough to get their way even if the way they went about it was a complete miscarriage of justice. This case has gone farther than just being about lap dances or prostitution. Drop 12 felonies in exchange for not reopening the club? Shame on somebody. Who will the city fathers strong arm next using the long arm of the law? By the way, it is not possible to accurately say the "community" did or didn't want something here. You need a larger representative sample of people to say what the community does or doesn't want. That's why they have referendums.
