On Janesville City Council to discuss extending insurance

Well this will certainly create of lot of jobs. I agree with the comments about Rashkin and Liebert. Their stand on family values was already apparent.

I don't feel sorry for any negative comments about Liebert. After all, he is the one who used a sexual slur against Gov Walker in an open council meeting.

Glad to answer - that direction would be to ride in the wagon and let others push the wagon. Otherwise stated "Ask not what you can do for your country - Ask what your country will give to you. The folks are the anti JFK's - not your father's Democrats. Ok - your turn poobah - let your liberal left wing hate talk fly!

I suggest Mr Liebert try getting a real job with a real business. Drinking coffee all day at a coffee shop and talking politics is not productive work. Compare him with a real world businesman like Matt Kealy running for council. No comparison. Liebert, Rashkin etc are a pretty sad commentary on the direction much of Janesville seem headed in.

On Contraception mandate outrages religious groups

The Catholic Church has a great deal of responsibility for the the situation it finds itself in. I admire the consistent stand for family values. I do not admire the consistent stands in favor of socialist economics and wealth redistribution taken by the church. Did the church really believe that conflicts wouldn't arise? When you mix politics and religion, politics will always win. It makes no difference if it is the religious right or the religious left. Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services receive the vast majority of their funding from government contracts. They should have expected this.

On Factory Card & Party Outlet closing

The marketplace will always decide which store succeeds and which store closes. We used to shop at Factory Card Outlet but stopped when they changed most of their inventory to cards printed in China. We swithched to Dollar Tree whose cards are cheaper and where the vast majority a printed in the United States. Their American card content is higher than any store in town. Hopefully that will continue.

On Cullen won't run for governor

Somehow the myth persists that Tim Cullen is a moderate. That must be because he says so despite his recent record (fleeing to IL etc). Any fiscal conservative also needs to look back to has final steps as a school board member. Cullen is one the the architects of the Janesville School systems financial problems. Not long before he left the board, the problem of excessive union custodial absenteeism was discussed. A custodian would call in sick and another custodian would be paid overtime to fill in. The next week the process would reverse. They were playing the system to increase pay without increasing working hours. The mild suggestion was raised to outsource replacement custodial services to prevent this practice and save money. Cullen and Kevin Murray went nuclear and accuesed others of trampling on government employee unions. This was a good preview of what Cullen has done in the State Senate. Do not confuse Cullen's statements or his good old boy friendship with Tommy Thompson with reform.

poohbah - you made very insightful comment. It was a little gathering. You have reinforced my statement about the Gazette coverning something so small with so much print. Thank You!

WOW - 46 people - such a big crowd the gazette could only get about 25 in a panoramic picture. The Gazette has become unbelievable. They dedicated 3/4 of a page to this article! Scott Angus must be ceding control to the long biased Stan Milam. This is pathetic journalism. If every group with so few attending received this kind of coverage, the gazette would have to expand to 100 pages and create a lot of jobs in the community. Those mentioned and speaking were the usual cast of characters with their never ending whining and intolerence. This article actually makes me feel much more confident in the future of our great Governor. Where was Tim Cullen? that's right - at his new hangout in Rockford.
