On Hearing delayed in rollover death

Posted on July 29 at 1:59 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I didn't suggest removal of the post that I responded to, pretty sure that was done by an intuitive staff member. Anyone with a lick of sense can tell what's behind your thinly veiled comments. Okay . . . we get it, it's moms fault! If it weren't for her . . . yada, yada, yada. I can only guess at why you are so desperate to persecute her in such a public forum, or what would motivate you to hang out her dirty laundry every chance you get, but whatever the reason, it shows a lack of class on your part. Not to mention that it makes you look silly. If what he did is somehow indicative of maternal neglect, than we obviously have a lot of motherless sons roaming the back roads of rural America. "Eddie" did not commit a driveby shooting, or take out a room full of his classmates, there was no malicious intent behind his actions, so you can stop characterizing this as another child gone wrong. This was a tragic accident, and my heart bleeds for the Jeters family . . . but I can also sympathize with a mother who may very well lose her son to a glutinous prison system . . . and a young man suffering from what must be unimaginable guilt.

Shame on you for using such a tragic ACCIDENT to spew your venom. Clearly you have an agenda, one which apparently doesn't include compassion for anyone involved. The young man in question doesn't deserve to be locked up period! It was poor judgment, but sadly it's typical, and I hardly think that whether or not his mother graduated has any bearing on the circumstances. What a hateful person you must be. And you have no idea what a "huge accomplishment," it was for me to keep this post clean because I think you're repugnant.

blinkie, since you ask, no I do not eat pork. So I'm guessing, according your regulations, I am now allowed to an opinion.
There are numerous reasons not to eat meat, mine just happens to be having a conscience. You stated that "the process of raising and slaughtering hogs is not a kind process." Why is that do you think? Why with the technology available does the process itself need to be so brutal? Could it be a complete and utter disregard for life itself? Or is it greed?

Apparently it's not enough that these animals give their lives to feed you, but they need to be viciously abused for the entirety of their short existence too?
So maybe in the big picture, pitching a few rocks at pinned up pigs for no good reason is not that big of a deal.
Pigs are actually much smarter than dogs, maybe we can get a few pictures of kids throwing rocks at puppies. Wouldn't that be a hoot!

It's hard to believe anyone would admit to being so senselessly cruel, much less brag about it.
If I caught one of my kids pitching rocks at helpless animals, I'll guarantee you the last thing that would have crossed my mind is photographing it.

Taxed2much

Why on earth would an intellectual like yourself rely on the local paper for your information?

Mikki
Where do you think swine flu originated?
The filthy overcrowded conditions farm animals endure are the breeding ground for disease. Maybe you should at least check out the suggested site, you may find it informational.

It's a gift from the farmers practicing disgusting, inhumane, unsanitary and immoral acts against highly intelligent forms of life in the interest of profit, and greed.

Check out the HBO documentary, "Death on a Factory Farm," and let me know if you think the conditions on that Ohio farm wouldn't have led to the same end result.

Blaming the Mexicans is just about as ignorant as blaming the pigs.

Humanity has lost sight of what it is that supposedly makes us humane. The way animals are treated is reprehensable, and this is just one example of several retributions coming our way if we continue along this path.

Why is it we have to lay blame on someone, anyone, when all we need to do is look in the mirror?

On Janesville schools take flu precautions

Posted on April 30 at 2 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

How about handwashing? Will the children finally be given an opportunity throughout the day to wash? Will this be supervised? I find it odd that we recieve numerous reminders of how important handwashing is, and yet there doesn't seem to be a time set aside at the schools for this practice.
The kids get 10 excused absences per year, beyond that a doctors excuse is required, which for some us means the cost of an office visit. So we are left with sending our kids to school sick, or paying fifty-bucks to be told they have a cold. And even if we don't incurr this expense the taxpayer does.
If they're going to have these attendance policies they should at the very least be required to have strict handwashing standards.
And now what? It's almost the end of the school year, many kids have used or come close to using their "sick time."
Are they going to adjust that 10 day limit as a precaution, so parents don't feel obligated to send sick children to school?
Will they be providing these masks?

By the way, anyone else have kids going bowling in the next few days?

Say what?

On What deters your children from walking/biking to school?

I pick up kids everyday from Washington School, walking!!! I agree they are all old enough to walk 2 blocks, unfortunately the cross-walk (no crossing guards)on Oakhill is completely ignored. I stand there along with other parents and numerous children and watch the cars fly by, including police cars! They flat out DO NOT STOP, much less think about slowing down. When the adults in this city show so little concern for the safety and well-being of children, how can parents feel comfortable about their kids walking?
No one in their right mind would want to deal with the insanity of dropping off or picking up a child from any school in the Janesville School district, obviously there is a problem if they feel the need to do so.
I'm both fascinated and saddened by the City's response to the congestion. What an easy out! Stop transporting your children, and there won't be any congestion to complain about. Well, here's a novel idea. . . instead of building a new facility for the buses, use the money to actually provide TRANSPORTATION!
Clearly there are numerous problems in Janesville, not the least of which being the sex offenders that apparently find Janesville very hospitable, otherwise they wouldn't be here.
But even the simple solutions like crossing guards, posting signs, and traffic lights seem to be too much to ask for.
We have a right to expect our children to be safe, and the city has a responsibility to see to it that they are. And until this very basic responsiblity is met with, parents are going to do what they have to, and should be commended for it.
