Unfortunately someone got hurt and I have been scheduled to work the day of Craig's court case. Wish I could have been there.
I am in hopes that everything goes well for him & his family from here on in.
NOTE:
To my2centsworth:
Those last 2 blogs were funny as heck!
My apologies for screwing up on reveling who you were.
You are a great person and I hope other departments and firefighters appreciate what you do.

I've been really pondering this problem and talked with others in our station and city about it also. Then I had a meeting with some people from the town I live in and they said that accidently using the cards has happened several times and there is no problem with asking the person where the money was spent and if it was accidentally spent on personal use could it be returned. They said that they have NEVER had a problem getting the answer they needed or the money returned if it was accidentally used.
Now talking with the guys here at our station we are trying to all figure out why this all started and came to a head then BINGO! Our illustrious Chief said, "When a chief is going to leave a department he would recommend to the city council the appointment of another chief for consideration." He said, "This being so; SOMEONE who is in that department who didn't get that recommendation is REALLY POed that HE didn't get the assignment and must have gotten others to back his poor hurt feelings of being let down and must have convinced the town treasurer and others that the former chief was up to no good as payback." Now what really screwed with our chief's head was why wasn't the FD's treasurer sending out the certified letter to return the money to the department if he/she wasn't involved with this fiasco?
There is going to be more on this because our chief either has, by now, or will be making some very interesting phone calls to find out why or if Craig even had the chance to pay the $80.00 back or even if he did pay it back to the city then why is this case continuing? This is getting quite interesting when you have other departments that are putting their heads together to help a fellow firefighter and it is helping us in our department so that none of this ever comes up. This is also narrowing suspicions down as to WHO would stoop this low to file such vindictive charges and who would support such a low life person.
Now if there are other departments out there; start a forum amungst yourselves and see what you think and come up with.

Why is it that "Purrmaid" and "Firefighter2000" sound like one in the same in the way of their writings?
That's good - just sign in as a different name. OK! No problem we can handel that!
.
Tenacious,
Now THAT was funny! A little crude and to the point but funny nonetheless.
Come to think about it that might be why the other name was used. >;-)

Thanks for the info on the date in question at least I know who will wind up being there in support.
Notice how this blog is still going on? This must mean something.
Craig, if you're reading this blog keep your chin up big guy and have some faith in the people that you worked with. Not all of them were AH's! There are a lot of people that think that this has gone way too far and if there is something that you need then jump in and say something on this blog. I know that you have some friends in other departments that use to work with you. This is the time to "cash in your chips" and ask for their support and /or help. We, your REAL friends, are here for you we just want you to know that.

Come to think of it can someone tell me when this is going to court? I want to be there to give the court the frickin' $80.00 myself and tell them what has been said on these blogs in support of Craig. Matter of fact I found that there are many blogs in support of Craig. If we all get together we could tell the treasurer where he can put HIS/HER job for starting this fiasco.

Firefighter2000:
I know who "my2centsworth" is and he is a guy I admire. This man is a fire photographer for several of the fire departments out here in Walworth County. He does this on his own time with his own money and his own equipment and he is appreciated by most departments.
Not only will I agree with what he had said but I will add that I was on one of the other fire trucks that pulled on scene that afternoon and everything he described is extreamly accurate including the point that Craig & his wife thanked the people that showed up at his house. What did you want a kiss & hug from him?
Craig didn't take off and "suddenly" move as you stated. Craig had been trying very hard to make the grade so that he could get on the county sherrif's department down there in AZ and when he finally made it he was very happy & had pleanty of time to sell his belongings in their moving sale over a two week period. Quit trying to make it seem like he took off running with a whole $80.00 to AZ. This whole thing is way out of whack and he should have been asked to repay it - period! I'm getting to the point that I can actually say I am ashamed to say I am from SE Wisconsin with the way people act. One more thing I can't stand is nobody knows how to say thank you or that was a job well done or anything like that. Not only to the FD and the PD but every thing in general.

my2centsworth,
You are wasting your time talking or reading comments here.
I have had people write to me and I won't answer either side.
Den,
Basically you stated that you met Craig a few times & he was hospitable towards you and that you thought this was the wrong way of handling things. I, and many of us who are not going to be a part of this ridicules blog, agree with what you said.
There isn't much difference between FD family and blood families there are always the ones who NEVER do wrong that keep carrying on.
I hope this doesn't carry on beyond this blog session and that people can grow up and leave this and mistakes behind in the past.
After this entire BS episode I begin to wonder whom I can trust at their fires when I need my back covered. There are no departments that are perfect but I can say, with all honesty, that I trust my department & I, and everyone in our department, respect our Chief enough to stand up for him even if he did make a petty mistake like this.
This will be my last blog.
When I sign off I will no longer be back as Puttingonthewetstuff again!
Craig & Shannon, I hope your life gets better in AZ with the family.
