On August elected to second term in 32nd Assembly District

Walworth County always elects the Republican, for better or worse. Tyler, remember that more than 11,000 of those voting voted for someone else. Those people are also your consitutents. Their interests and concerns deserve your attention, too, even if they differ from yours. You represent ALL the people in your district, not just those who voted for you.

On None

itookthewalk, perhaps it is, as you say, unfair to judge a person none of us know. However, it is fair to judge his actions. No one believes Mr. White intended to kill someone. However, he did intend to drink, and he did intend to drive after drinking. All reasonable people judge his actions as unforgiveable. I wonder if you read the post from claytonh before you wrote your post. If so, it is hard to believe you had the guts to actually post your comment. A dead father and son is no mistake. It is the direct result of the actions that Mr. White intended.

I know it is just a drawing, but that map is a really poor depiction of the boundaries of the City of Lake Geneva.

On Racine mayor resigns after arrest

Becker is a Democrat. However, the office of mayor in Racine is officially non-partisan. No one runs for mayor as a memeber of any political party.

The "at-will" doctrine only applies to employees. A Mayor is an elected official not an employee. Specific procedures are required to remove a Mayor for office. As Jvlhomeowner said, he just made it easier for the City of Racine by resigning. Becker has a wife and two daughters.

On Report: Driver was intoxicated

Because she had more than three prior convictions, her so-called legal limit was .02. Does anyone on the Gazette Staff ever check the accuracy of its stories? Also, is there any word on whether her child (the granddaughter's mother) knew she had all these convictions for drunk driving before allowing the child to be driven by her grandmother?

I hope the granddaughter and the Ryan family all recover fully.

That's right, because what happens in Janesville, Wisconsin in December sets the baseline for whether the temperature of the entire Earth is rising or falling.

It is a small point, but the station on Highway H is called the Handa Mart. It used to be Handi Mart. Then it was sold, and the new owner changed the name to Handa Mart.

On Dad sentenced for picking up kids while drunk

Why do reporters continue to use the phrase "more than ... times the legal limit" or words to that effect? There is no law that says you're allowed to drive when you have a .079 blood alcohol content or lower. One can be lawfully impaired even with lower blood alcohol content. In any event, if this is really his fifth conviction, the story is not even accurate. If one has been convicted of drunk driving three times, the so-called "legal limit" drops to .02 for that person. So, this guy's blood alcohol content was more than ten times the "legal limit."
