It sounds like the police are out doing their job and the man made a simple mistake of picking up a cat. Why are you folks to negative?

On Four students expelled

Posted on May 15 at 7:03 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

At the risk of saying something positive, I notice there are five fewer kids espelled this year than there were at this time last year. That sounds like progress to me.

I read all of the time the " when I was a kid " stuff. I will add mine. When I was a kid I was battered, picked on, had my nose broken and I was abused by a teacher. I carried a zip gun to school my whole senior year.

I came very close to taking a shotgun to school and wiping out several teachers and classmates.

Disipline at home was something I felt over and over. What changed my behavior was not beatings, but a person who entered my life and cared about me. Often what helps troubled youth is just somebody who cares about a person enough make them feel special.

My wife and I have raised three good kids, one is a doctor, one an engineer and one works with troubled kids helping them with drug and alcohol problems. ( This child was picked on, abused and a very troubled person who finally graduated from college at age 40 )

Kids and all people must feel good about themselves to be good people. Teachers and students need to care about others.

It has been over 50 years since I attended Janesville High School and I notice little has changed.

On Bike tunnel on hold

A suggestion for the bike crossing, dumb as it sounds, it could work. For $ 600,000. you could hire crossing guards at $ 20,000.00 per year to help the bikers walk thier bikes across the busy street, of course looking both ways and training the people at the same time on safe ways to cross the street. Or you could hire someone to hand each family a $ 10.00 bill to walk to the crosswalk, you would hand out 60,000 ten dollars bills, then ask those who received the money to buy a bicycle tag for $ 10.00 for one year. The next year you could collect the same fee and have the tunnel paid for.

On Tallman's turning point?

Posted on December 5 at 11:54 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

My wife and I both grew up in Janesville, and everytime we get back to our hometown, we drive by the Tallman House, visit Rotary Gardens and drive through Riverside Park. All three are wonderful attractions for tourists. Everytime we leave Riverside Park we look at each other and say that the park would make a great campgrounds. That would bring a lot of tourists to Janesville, and they might visit the Tallman House. Just a thought.

On Residents may be in denial, but termite problem is spreading

After you learn your house has termites, does the city tax assessor come by and lower your assessment since a termite infested property would sell for less than before?

On Historian: Station eligible for historic register

If the building were torn down, it would be gone forever. Just the thought of that is sad to say the least. Why doesn't the city of Janesville call upon one of the city's greatest assits, Ken Hendricks, and ask him about possible uses of the building. He might look across the street and see all of the housing units filled with senior citizens and think about what they need, and suggest perhaps a little coffee shop, run by the women who live across the street, and a card room for some of the old guys who live within walking distance, for just a place to hang out.
