I personally owe nothing to unions, but acknowledge that the modern-day 40-hour work week and traditional 8- or 10-hour work day can be attributed to organized labor. And, yes, many of the federal and state laws concerning workplace safety and workplace rights can also be attributed to organized labor.

Since these things are now generally accepted workplace practices, the usefulness of unions for those specific purposes has run its course.

The role of the union simply needs to adapt. The real debate ought to be about HOW they should adapt, not whether or not they should exist.

There is no "squeezing more out of employees paychecks." On the contrary, we are paid fairly and rewarded appropriately. The benefits are quite good too.

Furthermore, five of her children work at ABC. They are all good people who do a lot for the community. They work hard for the company they helped their parents build. And, yes, they all pay their fair share of taxes just like the rest of us.

Has anyone ever considered that the sole owner of a corporation might bear the tax burden of the corporation on his/her personal income tax return? ABC pays it's fair share of taxes to the federal government, state government and all other entities requiring the collection of sales tax.

ABC Supply consistently has world-class associate engagement, world-class customer engagement and solid financial results. Don't knock the company unless you've worked here.

Politics aside, ABC Supply is a shining example of how a company and its leadership should treat people, regardless of unions or the lack thereof.
