On Milton police investigating possible attempted child abduction

Posted on October 27 at 8:03 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I also wonder about the little boy already in the van...I think the school district did a great job calling parents on the messenger service & alerting us. It is OUR responsibility as parents to talk to our kids & warn them. At the school it is THEIR responsibility to watch the kids while they are on the grounds & keep them safe. You don't want to panic & scare the kids. By 4th grade kids have already learned about stranger danger & likely it will be addressed again. I don't think it's strange to have a delay about the child telling this - lots of factors & he is just a 4th grader.

The flu is everywhere. I doubt the schools will close if they haven't already.

On 4K narrowly fails in Milton

werpknarly: Until I've been where? In debt, without enough money to go around? You don't know where I've been or the sacrafices I've made for my child. I quit my job to stay home & start a business so I could do what's best for our family. I work with people everyday that use child care assistance. If you need it, apply for it. Kids don't have to suffer. You can always teach them yourself & there are free programs like at the Exchange Family Resource Center-parent education, resources, play groups, etc- on Milwaukee street that can help you.

People say they can't afford preschool. Why? And why then does the public need to pay for your child to go? In all reality, either you pay for preschool weekly/monthly or you pay for it with your taxes. You WILL pay for it. But yes I'm resentful that I would have to pay for someone else's child to go to preschool when there's plenty of options already available in our community already at reasonable rates. Not it's not free but what is? And there's assistance for anyone who qualifies. If you don't qualify, maybe you just need to adjust your priorities or get another job. I know a family that says they couldn't afford preschool. Mom used to work PT but doesn't any more. And they're taking the whole family to Disney. I think they can afford preschool.

The reason people are calling 4K day care is because a lot of day cares are already providing educational experiences for 4 year olds!! Milton will have 4K, you can plan on it. Parents want FREE but don't be fooled it isn't free. My taxes will go up.

Education is always beneficial. 4 year olds are much more capable than some people expect out of them but AGAIN 4 year old qaulity educational programs ARE ALREADY AVAILABLE IN OUR COMMUNITY. It isn't free but 4K costs us all too.

Fact is, there are preschool programs already in place that are providing very successful educational programs for 4 year olds. But right, it's not FREE. And really, it's 3 hrs. You still need to transport your child & then arrange for child care in addition before/after the program. Yes I think 4K is beneficial but it's already available. If you can't afford it, check out child care assistance & find a quality program.
