On 'Ay caramba!' and other silliness

Phil Woodman is getting plenty of free advertising for his stores by the Gazette making this post and us talking about it. Silly commercial? Perhaps, but it's also marketing genius on a dime.

Really? Comparing the recall effort with a phone call from a possible predator? People on this board have sunk to an all new low.
On Flyers in Janesville oppose meter transmission

Since the smart meters were put in, my gas/electric bills have been accurate every month. When there was someone "reading" the meter, I always got estimated bills and my bills were outrageous. There will always be conspiracy theorists out there. Not everyone or everything is out to get you. Grow up, get a life and move on.
On Funding OK’d for Janesville skatepark

I agree that kids need something to do other than watch TV, but spending our tax dollars on skate park that will be used by a tiny fraction of our population is ridiculous! If kids needs something to do, why don't they try the following: Read, do homework, go for a walk, use the playground equipment that many of our parks already have, go to the library, go fishing, get a job, maybe even volunteer. There are a lot of free options in this town for everyone to do, people just need to open their eyes.

What a waste of taxpayer money! People complain about updating the ice arena and we're willing to spend money on a skate park?! Let's spend money on something that can bring in some revenue. Someone explain to me how a skate park is going to help the poor? Giving kids a place to break a leg and smoke cigarettes sounds like a great idea....
Someone asked how "we the people" make things happen, VOTE for one! Secondly, start attending the city council meetings and make your voices heard.

These message boards are pure entertainment for me. For those of you dishing it on this board, you better learn how to take it. Any blog, You Tube video and even national news organizations are highly biased and should be questioned (yes folks that includes Fox News too). As for the subject at hand, Van Hollen is obviously protecting himself and other members of his party by keeping his hands clean. If it were members of a different party would he do the same?
On Tornado watch in effect until 1 a.m.; fair not letting people in

When it comes to public safety the fair has an obligation to keeping the community safe. The NWS did indeed issue a tornado watch for our area and the storms were less than 15 miles to the south of us. Imagine if the worse did occur and the fair did nothing at all. Would your posts would condemn that too?
On Walker won't support domestic-partner registry

It's an open forum and people can say whatever they want, but smoking pot has nothing to do with the fact that Walker wants to get rid of the domestic partner registry. Secondly, I don't consider my being gay a "lifestyle". A lifestyle sounds like a choice and my being gay was not a choice.
On Walker won't support domestic-partner registry

Jaf2 - Without the domestic partnership law, a medical facility can deny me the right to see my partner or make decisions on their behalf. Why?.. because we are not legally a family members. When an emergency happens, I will not always have power of attorney paperwork with me to make them do what I say. I know because I've been there; here in Janesville at our glorious Mercy Hospital. In the case of a will, some families aren't always understanding and they can contest the will and win. It has happened many times. On the topic of insurance, the current domestic partnership law does not force my employer extend healthcare benefits to my partner. Those benefits are extended to state employee domestic partners only and is completely different law all together.

On Wis. National Guard unit headed to Kuwait

The US has had a presence in Kuwait since the Gulf War. It's probably a routine swap out of troops so that other members of the military can come home.
