On Three charged with distributing cocaine in Rock County

It is ludicrous to consider putting these people in prison for 60 years just because they possessed and sold cocaine. Cocaine should be legal. Portugal decriminalized all drugs in 2001 and their experience has been positive. Now if you are caught with a 10 day supply of your drug or less you face an administrative court, not a criminal court. We can do that here in the USA. A group of 20,000 very serious policemen, prosecutors and attorneys have formed a group to legalize ALL drugs, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (http://leap.cc ) They see what happened when we legalized alcohol in 1932 as a good example of how drug legalization would work. We can't stop drugs. They're sick of chasing drug users and sending innocent people to prison for decades just because they like to get high. This foolish war on drugs has lasted 37 years and cost us over a TRILLION dollars and we are not an inch closer to stopping drugs. How many millions of Americans are we going to lock up in prison for decades? Legalize ALL drugs now. Mark Montgomery boboberg@nyc.rr.com

The reason these peole are dying from using heroin is that they can't be sure of the drug's actual strength because it is illegal and they buy it in powdered form. If heroin were legal then the majority of the overdoses would end and folks wouldn't be forced to pull burglaries to feed their habit because they could buy it cheaply and legally at a local pharmacy. Heroin should be legal. He overdosed because He didn't know the actual strength of the heroin he injected. If he could have bought a known amount of heroin in a pharmacy he would still be alive today. On Drug bust nets 51 packets of heroin

Law enforcement can arrest as many heroin dealers as it wants and they will never even START to put a dent in the demand for drugs. Heroin should be legal and available to anyone over 18 at a pharmacy. The first thing this would accomplish is that the number of heroin overdoses would drop by at least 90% because the addicts would precisely know the dose they were taking. It would also cut the drug mafias out of the loop because they would have no more customers. It would also reduce burglaries and robberies because heroin addicts could get their heroin for under 50 cents a dose at a pharmacy. But this will never happen. Why? Because of law enforcement. Law enforcement and the private prison industry LOVES the drug laws because drugs means steady jobs, lots of overtime and the ability to intrude into the lives of civilians at the drop of a hat. Drugs are a sweet deal for cops who love the ability to search a car or a person without a warrant and generally harrass innocent civilians. We have spent 37 years and over a TRILLION dollars on this foolish "war on drugs". How many million more Americans are going to lock up for decades just because they like to get high? The drug laws are bankrupting city and state governments. Wake up America, we have been sold a bill of goods by law enforcement and our elected officials. Legalize ALL drugs now and we can release a million innocent civilians from the prisons. Mark Montgomery boboberg@nyc.rr.com
On Top cops warn of heroin invasion

Law enforcement can issue as many warnings as they want, they can bust as many helicopter fueled drug gangs, meth labs and drug houses as they want and they won't even START to put a dent in the demand for drugs. We've spent 37 years and over a trillion dollars fighting this foolish "war on drugs" and to what effect? I can walk outside my apartment here in Manhattan and score methamphetamine in under 15 minutes. Every drug bust simply increases the value of drugs and gives folks more incentive to get into the drug-supplying business. The only answer to the drug mafias and the clandestine labs is legalization. Legalization would kill meth labs overnight and leave the mafias with no customers. But we will never legalize drugs because drugs are such a sweet deal for law enforcement. Drugs mean lots of jobs and ridiculous overtime and hundreds of privately run prisons making millions of dollars. We laugh at the police. Mark Montgomery boboberg@nyc.rr.com

Law enforcement can bust as many drug shipments, drug houses and clandestine labs as they want to but they will NEVER put a dent in the demand for drugs. What we are seeing is law enforcement using the excuse of drugs to intrude into our lives as never before. The solution to the drug problem is legalization but the drug dealers and cops and private prison systems don't want that because it would ruin a sweet deal. Drug users are vulnerable and easy targets for cops and they ensure more jobs and lots of overtime and grant cops the right to stick their noses into our lives with impunity. Just watch an episode of cops and see how the ignorant cops violate the rights of citizens time after time. When are we going to wake up? How many million Americans are we going to allow them to l;ock up for decades? Mark Montgomery boboberg@nyc.rr.com

Legalizing heroin would virtually eliminate all heroin overdose deaths. Heroin should be legal. Portugal decriminalized all drugs in 2001 and their experience has been positive.
