On Brodhead School Board facing tough decisions

You have got to be kidding me.... Does any one in the County of Green realize that Brodhead residents pay the highest taxes in the county already. Please enlighten the rest of us in this "City" as to what we are paying for then. Maybe all the new fire equipment or the police force that sit and chat all day and night. Why don't we "X" some of the police force and keep some of the dedicated teachers that deserve my money and the communities money. Maybe Brodhead needs to evaluate why their enrollment is down when we pay the highest taxes in the county and have nothing to show for it. Funny how the bottom has dropped out the housing market yet, we don't see our assessed values lowered so we are not paying the inflated tax valuation on our homes. What a joke. I may be in the crowd of people trying to get the heck out of this one horse town like the many other smart people before me!!

On Brodhead residents seek details on referendum

I am done listening to this referendum garbage. Last night our family was interrupted during dinner by a phone call from the P.R.I.D.E. organization that has formed to "inform" people of the referendum... IMO.. Get you to vote YES!! Let me first say that I received this call on my personal cell phone not a landline. I am on the do not call list for both cell and landline. I asked how they obtained my phone number and the caller stated the phone number and my name was give to them by the Brodhead School District Administration office. I was outraged to say the least. My cell phone number that I gave to the school in confidence, for emergency contact, has been given to a 3rd party for solicitation purposes. This is an outright breach of privacy and is illegal. I was told that PRIDE is following the democratic process and that they are following the rules to the letter as far as running a political action campaign. Where the heck does it state that a school district can give your private info to a 3rd party? The whole reason for a cell phone is to avoid annoyances like this. What right does the school have to give out my private info? Then during the call I was asked, "If I was to vote today, what would my vote be?" my statement, “I was going to vote YES before this call now I will definitely be voting NO” I can not even trust my children’s school to keep my info confidential. Besides, I have never received a call from a candidate in any election that asked me how I am going to vote. That is a personal decision and there wouldn’t be any purpose in having an election booth to go into and privately select your choice if this is how a campaign was run. I have received calls from candidates asking if I have any questions or concerns that I would like addressed but NEVER – HOW ARE YOU GOING TO VOTE!! I have received several calls from friends and family in the community that are outraged by this as well. This referendum WILL fail if this kind of thing continues… Then the only people to blame will be the PUSHERS like these people that have turned YES votes into NO votes. I am certain people are informed. Every paper in the area and news channel has covered this referendum until people are sick of listening to it!! These tactics are not bring a community together.. it is further tearing it apart!! PRIDE—in what?? I am contacting an attorney.
