On Assessment appeals head to Janesville City Council
Posted on February 1 at 9:39 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
Maybe before the City decided to hire an attorney, they should have considered how much this attorney would cost the city and pass the attorney’s costs along as savings to the people filing assessment appeals. (ex. A lawyer cost $50,000 for this job with 5 appeals pending. Try to settle each appeal using $50,000 or less. The NFL can accomplish this with salary caps and so can the city.) But that's America for you, always running to the lawyers for help. Even in these class action lawsuits, lawyers take home 100's of millions of dollars and the average person involved in that lawsuit gets $100-$200. I guess ignorance is bliss.

Maybe people are starting to wise up about how much it costs to have a kid. Actually I believe that is something they try to teach you in middle and high school. Ironic huh?

Wise up people! Toll roads do not work. Just look at Illinois. They have multiple toll ways and yet their roads are worse then they are in Wisconsin, not to mention Illinois is in worse financial status than Wisconsin. Say we build just one tollbooth in Beloit of all places. Those toll ways aren't cheap. A good estimate to build a toll way station, $5 million. Now where is that $5million going to come from? Let's even say we have the extra $5 million to spend. Now you have to charge 5 million cars $1 before you even pay off toll way station. After that there's the toll way workers wages. The numbers just don't add up. It's essentially like paying someone to dig a hole and paying someone else to fill it in. By the way, the Illinois Toll way system isn't even a state job, it's a private sector job, and hence where the corruption comes in. And yes, I fully enjoy driving around the Rockton Toll way (Rockton exit to State Street Exit and vice versa.) I did math on that too and I save money even though you have to drive a little farther.

Lawyers telling you what other Lawyers would "make a better judge." Isn't that more of an "I'm going to tell you who I'd rather deal with to make my job easier" type of issue? Is it too late to take Brewster's advice and vote "none of the above?" You have to be rather shallow minded if you think only a lawyer can do a Judge's job. Most of the stuff they do is common sense; they just choose to use fancy words with a lot of paperwork to make themselves seem important. Now I'd like to back my opinion up with some facts.
My parents started a divorce in 2005; I was 18 at the times w/ 3 younger siblings. Our father was not permitted placement or visitation rights because of child abuse, which was fine by all of us kids. However the Judge at the time, a now retired Judge Rothe, decided on property distribution and gave about 1/2 of the toys in the house to our child abusing father who 7 years later still never earned placement or visitation rights. Being the jerk our father is for telling the truth about the abuse, he took the toys and has never given them back. Does this sound like someone who should be making decisions on people's life? A high school student could have made a more just decision.
There is a well known shoplifter in the southern Wisconsin area that has quite a rap sheet on Wisconsin Circuit Court. He is 29 and has 80 entries ranging from traffic tickets to several grades of felonies. In many of the cases he was charges with the crime and only paid a fine or restitution even when he pleaded guilty of removable theft greater than $2500 which is a felony. 80 entries, many of them guilty pleas, and he is still on the street to commit more crimes. Who are these criminal judges protecting, us honest citizens or the criminals? It might be your right to vote, but it's also your right to choose not to. How about we vote in someone with a degree in common sense and not a law degree for a change?
On Group: Average debt for gamblers is highest ever

I would love to know how much of this debt is accumulated online. The online gambling industry seems to be the worst just because it's so easy to spend money because it’s just numbers on a screen. I'm not much for gambling, but I have been to a few Casinos for parties so I have played a few slots and physically seeing my money being taken from me is probably why I've never spent more than $20 at one day in a Casino. Perhaps the better question is why are people allowed to be indebted this average of $157,000? Don't blame gambling; blame the individual and those who loan them money. If there was no such thing as gambling, they probably would be racking up that debt in hoarding and non-stop shopping.

If you take that opposition for Casinos with the reason just listed in that post, you should also oppose all Walmart's and Dollar Stores.
On Recall signature review to take more than 60 days
Posted on January 12 at 3:31 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
You would think if Scott Walker was really interested in saving money that they would just order a re-election based on the amount of support behind the recall effort. If he truly believes what he is doing is right and that the state of Wisconsin supports him, just order a re-election. In doing that, that has to be cheaper than buying a supposed $94,000 software program to verify signatures and paying people for what they are calling "more than 60 days" worth of work to verify signatures. Seems so odd that all Politicians talk about saving money, but yet they don’t have a single idea how to do it.
