On Health care law's unfinished business: cost curbs

Posted on April 26 at 12:13 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

"I think there is going to be a debate in the Republican Party on whether they should waste all their energy on repeal or make an effort to do something on cost containment,"

While Dem's painted this bill as the solution, its clear to everyone taking an honest look that this is just "step 1". Republicans would be wise to focus efforts on shaping the cost containment instead of repeal. Also, this bill was designed to be tweaked over time.

The Level 1 designation in Rockford is a state designation. WI doesn't have an equivalent so its difficult to compare. The level 2 designation being discussed refers to the American College of Surgeons designation which gives an apples to apples comparison between states.

I agree Sarah, I think people on both sides can agree this is a good thing.

wtp...using your logic shouldn't we dispose of the elderly as well? Aren't they an unnecessary drain on your hard earned income?

Its amazing how people can spin everything towards the negative.

"Mr. Bea, where are your priorities?" Answer: Patient Care

Hospitals cut and add services all the time based on a whole host of factors. Bottom line, this technology improves patient care and will ultimately bring jobs to Janesville, not replace existing ones.

No matter what the article or subject. People complain....get a life.

Prevention, what you are saying is simply not true. They follow the same rules as any hospital does. Employees are required by law to report suspected child abuse and neglect and protected by law to report all other cases of abuse and neglect albiet not required to do so. Requiring them to report all cases would be in violation of the law, I believe. There are instances where it may be appropriate and/or considerate to allow an adult to make his or her own decisions about when and how to report abuse to the authorities.

LoveisGood, I believe there are laws that help ensure that drug users receive medical care. Right or wrong, I think the laws are based on the premise that it is better to have drug users receive treatment for overdoses anything else while they are under the influence than to avoid proper care because they would get turned in to the authorities.

American vs. Japanese....its not that simple. Many lines of Toyota's and Honda's are made right here in the states while many lines of GM and Ford vehicles are made outside the US. "Buy American" isn't black and white.

Unless...you are wanting to support the economy by purchasing the vehicle most likely to generate revenue for our neighborhood mechanics.

Unless...You've noticed that GM and Ford US Plants are Union while the Toyota and Honda plants typically utilize free market employment...

There's nothing wrong with buying the best car for your money....I've always gone Toyota because of the reliability. That said, Ford has made great strides and my next care might be a '10 Fusion. (and the new Malibu isn't bad quality-wise either...if it wasn't so ugly)
