On Evansville, Monroe officials battle for 80th

Posted on October 26 at 11:34 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Metromilton, I live in Evansville and have not experienced the tax increases that Mr. Henke attributes to Ms. Ringhand. Her real record speaks for itself and supports her promise to represent us rather than some party line. I don't think Milton is in the 80th, but I hope you have a choice on your ballot as trustworthy as Ringhand.

On Evansville, Monroe council members face off in 80th Assembly district

Janis Ringhand has worked tirelessly for her community, friends, and neighbors. She has a list of service a mile long and the record to support her promise to represent us, not the established bureaucracy. It's time we vote with our heads and elect someone who has already passed the test.

This is a loss to the Council. John always spoke his mind and often what he had to say opened eyes and changed the course of events. I wish him well.

On Evansville theater offers children a creative outlet

I just love the fact that no child is turned away. Every kid gets a chance to be on stage. It's really heart warming and we are extremely lucky to have people like Mindy and Shelly in Evansville.

On Let the lake discussion begin

Perhaps I'm showing my ignorance here, but it occurs to me that the real question is in the difference in the costs of dredging the lake vs. creating some kind of wetland feature.

Surely the lake cannot be left in the condition it currently is in. And I would expect simply allowing it to fill back in after so much investment and study would be unthinkable.

Admittedly, I haven't heard what if any Plan B exists, but creating a natural habitat or extending the creek with it's stone walls, would come with a price. It seems to me the key question is "How much more would it cost to dredge the lake vs. creating some other parkland feature, or are we "ok" with allowing it to go wild and have little functional benefit?"

I would think a sound decision on what to do with the lake requires some understanding of more than this one option outlined within this study.

Thank goodness. I am really enjoying the new focus. And this website has been great for me.

While news of the Nation and World are interesting and important, my life is in Evansville and Janesville. The things that go on here are what impact me most.

Now we need a strong group to run off with the rain water issues on the west side. Matt, you and you're neighbors have done a great job to turn the tide and guide the city through the storm!

You have to give credit where credit is due. This project started as a vision of only maybe 4 private citizens. Through their persistence and persuasion, their vision has become reality.

It's truly amazing what a few well connected people can accomplish.
