On UPDATE: Armed robbery in residential Janesville neighborhood

Posted on November 28 at 8:13 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Here's a thought...regardless of the law...if you found yourself in such a situation, and you just happen to have a gun... would you think twice about using it to protect yourself?
.
I would guess not.
.
Therefore, since it is easier to beg forgiveness... than to ask permission...we should all start packing immediately...please check back six months from now so we can ascertain the significance of this uncontrolled study.

On Car splits in half after striking tree, injuring 3

Just read the headlines..."Car splits in half after striking tree, injuring 3"
.
And then read Scott Angus's backpedaling explanations of many stories, and can anyone honestly say the Gazette does not sensastionalize stories?

Seems like many are confusing "cause" with "contributing circumstances."

On Money for Milwaukee Street project not a certainty

If past council members would have had some foresight, the trail at that point would have been routed differently, and this wouldn't even be an issue now. THAT would have been real fiscal responsibility.

On Rodgers thrown for loop

"Thompson is the most egotistical, self serving, myopic GM out there, with perhaps the exception being Al Davis. Everyone with a brain knew the Favre thing would blow up in his face. Funny how I don't hear all those Thompson backers shooting their mouth off now, on how it was time to move on and that Favre was washed up, a cry baby, blah blah."
.
kio... replace the name Thompson with Lombardi....
.
The only difference is that Lombardi would have gotten rid of him the FIRST time he hemmed and hawed about retiring.

On Tallman House receives city funding

It might be time for the city to sit down and take a long hard look at what they (we) really want to fund in future budgets.
.
Then, only if a firm commitment can be made to fully fund it's obligations, including not only yearly maintenance, but continued infrastructure reliability issues, should they continue to fund this or any other project.
.
The significance, historical or otherwise, must be separated from the actual tax liability, and a commitment must be made based on the wishes of the taxpayers.
.
It's all or nothing when it comes to things like this. If a full commitment can't be made every year, no one wins in the long run.
.
Either get in or get out...once and for all.

On Body found in vehicle in Kiwanis Pond

Two observations....and one comment.
.
Ignorance (as evidenced by some of these posts) was, is and will continue to be, a sad part of human nature.
.
Technology in the form of computers and the internet tends to bring out both the very good side of people and the very bad side of people.
.
May this family find peace and solace in the face of tragedy.

On Appleton man killed while hunting

Leave it to lulu to go down that road when there is absolutely no indication alcohol played a part in this incident whatsoever.
.
Get a life.

"And those buybacks are only done when the state is desperate to upgrade the Interstate"
.

Desperate is a word that will be commonplace in the Wisconsin budget vocabulary.
