On Can you identify with squeeze on middle class?

Eagle - you are in the middle of your journey. I used to think people should just pick themselves up from their bootstraps - that everyone had a chance. That is just not true anymore. You can do all of the right things and end up in a hole. Go to college, get straight A's and then not be able to find a job. Or, do what everyone else did - get a 401K and invest everything in it along with your house - and end up with a tanked market. Your optimism is black and white - see the grey.
So because there are what we call unfortunates - and today there are more than ever before - who are where they are because large corporations control us like puppets in a financial way. They can take it all away and then give themselves bonuses. This has not been fixed and will continue.
Because I am naturally jaded and am a big fan of can't believe something too good to be true, and I don't trust Wall Street - I barely invested in a 401K and now have the cash instead. I'm rare and I know it. There aren't a lot of independent thinkers out there. I am terrible at things they are great at so this is not a criticism.
So Eagle you are a rare bird who flies above it all but this is your gift God gave you. Your weakness is your lack of compassion for those who crawl on the ground and cannot fly. A growth opportunity for you.
If we don't pool our resources together in strength - we the people - the true government - will fail. Low income people are not getting the wages or insurance coverage they should and it's time for us to help our neighbors. They can't pull up their bootstraps when they don't have any boots.

It's not that complicated people. We don't need different platforms like smart boards and ipads because this is still the Internet we are talking about here. Why won't their laptop do the same thing as an ipad? And there are peripheral devices that exist that will display a laptop onto a screen for all to view.
It's asking too much during a recession - get some sense. When your dad loses his job, not the time to ask for new skis.
On The tax man cometh to police you on health care

We are already being taxed when people go to the hospital without insurance and then we get higher insurance payments as a result. What I like about the system is it will tax companies like Walmart who do not provide a reasonable level of insurance.
You can't pull yourself from your bookstraps in this new world so it's time to have actual empathy and care about your neighbor. Corporations have shipped the jobs to India and China and now they have left us with jobs at Walmart. Also, you can become one of these people scraping by - it can happen to anyone. You need a Masters degree for a good job these days - and how much is that going to cost you? Not everybody can afford a good education anymore. Wake up - it's a new world and the old rules don't apply. Your community's bake sale for you isn't going to cut the mustard anymore. Corporations have abandoned us for cheaper labor and it's time to band together.

What a liberal socialist! Expects everyone to pool their money together and has his hand out for this state. What a disappointment he must be for the tea party.

What would Jesus do? He would help the poor and what would republicans do? They would help the rich.
Thanks Sisters for standing up for the will of God and everything that is good.
On Salaried GM retirees hit with 'grueling' pension changes

I feel so bad for the people who had this pension carrot put in front of them for so many grueling years of hell working in that prison only to be told that their pension is no longer a guarantee. If Prudential goes under, then their annuity payout would be half what than if would be in a pension.
But then again, I'm not planning on going to hell like the nay sayers here are - the haters - the doomed, satan's minion. I pray for you all for your jealous and venom for others is your own poison.

This is a very nice thing that restaurants like Texas Roadhouse and the volunteers that deliver the meals are doing. Kudos to all of you!
However, can we stop saying "giving back"? People pay for their food and they supply it - they don't owe us anything and we haven't given them anything that wasn't deserving. Unless you have received charity, there is no reason to "give back". It's almost as if we are saying that we're all charity cases. We're not. Some of us owe absolutely nothing and have been giving and giving and giving and have gotten nothing back. It all belittles the charity we do provide to others like we just owe everyone.
Now if you are receiving government subsidies as a business, give back is an appropriate phrase. Thinking about oil companies with this.

Research has shown time and again - democrats are smarter and more kind hearted really. More creative and innovative.

That's why republicans like Walker are slashing education. If they can dumb you down, you will believe in Santa and the trickle down theory.
No offense to those who are not formally educated. What matters is reading - read things before you form your opinions and from all sources and both sides. That's how you can go beyond believing things because your parents did to making up your own mind. That's my only concern about many republicans. Politicians have been using advertising techniques to convince people to vote against their own self interests - it's been very effective.

So the story that is near the top of CNN's list doesn't get a headline in the State of Wisconsin's Janesville paper? Could it because the gazette has been kissing Ryan's republican "expletive" for the last month?
