On New law bans texting while driving

This law is a joke, they have left way too many loop holes for people to find. For example; I'm driving down the road sending a text message, see a cop pull out behind me and hurry up and delete all of my outgoing texts. The cop pulls me over and asks to see my phone and nothing is there because I knew he could look at my phone and I couldn't do anything about it. Or I could be driving down Hwy 14 checking out facebook. I am obviously not paying attention and hit another car. Under this new law, I did nothing wrong because I was not texting, I was surfing the internet. I would probably get an inattentive driving ticket but could fight it in court because according to the texting law, I was not doing anything wrong. Way too many loop holes for me. Whatever happened to inattentive driving?!? Putting information into your GPS while driving down the road, surfind the internet while driving, reading e-mails, that is all inattentive driving. So why do we need a new law just for texting?? Inattentive driving is just that....operating a motor vehicle and not being attentive. Doesn't matter if you're yelling at your kids in the back seat, putting info into your GPS, eating...etc. It is all considered intattentive driving. Enough with the new laws that are not needed because the old laws cover everything....just a little common sense is needed. Period.

I am with Facts on this one. People look at me like I am crazy when I leave my Tahoe running with the air on in the middle of a parking lot for my dog, but I would much rather be able to run in a store, grab what I need and come out to a dog that is still alive. I don't believe I would go as far as calling it negligence for these pet owners leaving their dog outside as they did follow the laws when they did leave but I think they should have used their heads a little bit. It was all over the news about the heat advisory, so the dog would have been better off left inside while the owners were gone.

I'm sorry but with what the Gazette is printing compared to what the Delavan Enterprise is printing, there are quite a few contradicting stories being published. In the end, the truth will come out and hopefully Brandon's family will be able to get some type of closure from this whole mess and be able to know what really happened that day that Brandon lost his life.

According to Crystal, only shootings, gang related crimes, and robberies happen in Delavan because it is such a crappy town. So quick to put down other towns but honey, you need to take a look at your own town before you start running your mouth. There is crime everywhere (obviously from all of the stories the Gazette publishes about them!) so get off your high horse and stop acting like you live in the safest neighborhood.
On Illegal immigrants plan to leave over Ariz. law

I absolutely LOVE how the protestors in this article are ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS and one can't even speak English. My opinion, I should NOT have to press 1 for English in my own Country, my kids should not be required to learn to speak spanish in their own Country, and people that are legal and born in this country should not have to worry about how they are going to support their families because there are too many illegals here taking the jobs away from them. Illinois has the same problem, my husband works with 10 or 11 mexicans, all illegal. You can tell just by the cop car drives by, they all run. There are people coming in to my husband's work all the time applying for empoloyment but get turned away because there is no work for anyone else because the illegals. I say its about dang time there is a law to enforce another law (kind of ridiculous if you ask me!) but whatever, if it gets rid of them all, GOOD! I won't lose any sleep over the illegals getting shipped back to their own country. I do find it a little funny that they are telling the newspaper where they plan on going to, hopefully those states will be the next to crack on down on illegals!!

Could not agree more happycamper!!! Stop worrying about building more houses and start worrying about building more businesses so we can get families moved into those vacant unfinished homes!! Enough with over populating Delavan schools already!!!

The Enterprise has a picture of the baby's face right on the front page, there is no way that any parent could believe that the baby had an allergic reaction to something. This is sickening and people like this jerk should not be able to reproduce.

On I know it's legal but do you have to light up here?
Posted on June 13 at 7:58 a.m. ( Suggest removal )
I am a smoker & I am also a mother to a 9 month old little girl. I do not smoke around my daughter nor do I let anyone else. If someone lights up around her, I have absolutely no problem opening my mouth, she is my daughter & I have that right as her mother. People's levels of "intelligence" has nothing to do with their preference to smoke. It does not mean they are ignorant or poorly educated, I picked it up when I was younger when I didn't know any better & here I am fighting it every single day. The last time I checked, everyone has the right to choose to smoke or not to smoke. However, people who do smoke in a park where there are obviously children all around them are lacking some common sense. It is not that hard to open your mouth & tell them that you would appreciate it if they would smoke somehwere else and not around all of the children. Even before I had my daughter, I refused to smoke around children. Just because I choose to smoke doesn't mean that every one around me needs to breathe in the smoke. Plain & simple.
