On Plans under way for memorial to gaming icon in Lake Geneva

Sean, that's pretty unfair. First of all, a statue for Gary has nothing to do with any disagreements between Gygax and Arneson.
You dismiss Mr. Gygax's contributions to the game. Not only was he co-creator of D&D, but he developed AD&D, formed GenCon (which started in Lake Geneva), and had a lot more to do with TSR and the "lore" of D&D than anybody else--it was more that "three booklets", if you recognize his modules, articles, and drive. He's responsible for employing dozens of people in Lake Geneva and thus a statue for him would be appropriate.
D&D was pretty "specatular" even in the late 70s, so that tells me Gygax was very responsible for that. Just because successive generations work on D&D doesn't dismiss the contributions of the founder, in the same way you celebrate Henry Ford or Alexander Bell.
