I understand that Police Officers have a job to do and operating the MDT is part of their job. However, I would think that operating the MDT while driving is just as dangerous as someone that's actually texting and driving. They're taking their eyes off the road to type and in that split second anything can happen. Maybe the law allows or left the window open for Police Officers to operate their MDT's while driving. However, I would hope that law Enforcement Agencies have policies in place for operating a MDT while patroling / driving.

If Law Enforcement agencies don't have policies in place about operating MDT's while driving and a serious or even a minor accident occurs and the finding is that officer was operating the MDT (Inattentive Driving), I can see a lawsuit coming.

Are police officers that use their MDT's / computers while driving have to follow this law also? And before anybody get all upset, I'm just asking a question. As in regards to the article, I do agree texting, sending emails etc. while driving should be banned.

Not all kids get breakfast free. Also, sometimes with people work schedules they're not able to make breakfast in the morning. So as a result, they give their kids a couple of dollars and they eat breakfast at school. At least that's how I do it.

intheloop: for your information...I know a lot about that department! And I do know that the Trustee program IS part of the diversion program. The program helps SENTENCED INMATES work time off their sentences by doing work around the jail and other various activities! Furthermore, most people in the program has to sit a day or two in jail. They have to complete and submit the appropriate paperwork and hope it gets approved. If its approved then they are released from the jail and has to report to do an "X" amount of days/weekends of community service.

So before you decide to talk about something you obviously know little about, do a little research!
