On Milton teachers take action

How is this a problem? The teachers wear yellow one day a week and walk into work together on scheduled time? Nothing is being done on taxpayer's dimes even and people are upset. Are we really arguing this? Things have gotten much uglier before.

Teachers should be bugged? That is horrible. How many of you want to be bugged or on camera all day while at work? I would guess that not many of you want to. As a teacher, I am not scared and do not really feel like I have that much to hide. I am confident of my classroom and I always welcome other teachers and administration to my classroom. We have administration stop by unexpected multiple times each year to see how class is going. Students also tell people and word gets out on what each teacher allows in their classroom too. Bugging a classroom is probably the most far fetched thing I have ever heard of. This year I will even look to add a podcast to my class so I record my class and upload it to my website so absent students are able to listen to a lecture in the class. If I am recording myself, that is fine. But for people to suggest bugging to spy on a classroom is horrible.
On Schools struggle with cell phone policies

I remember hearing last year that during a lock down at school, students snuck texts out to parents and parents then called the school so much that the school's phone system shut down. We as parents need to realize that needing to know everything about our children during the day can even make scary situations worse.

Woodsman- The state of WI requires certain amounts of school days for students to be in school. Its not the local schools that are out to get money from students. You could say that is about the money, becaues I believe state aid would be lifted from a school district that did not have students make up the days. So if your argument is that schools are out to get money, sure you're right. They are out to get money to help operate their school so they can try and educate people like you.

Woodsman, that comment is idiotic. Teachers should all have assignments ready for kids? Sure teachers can prepare a few things for them and what not, but really? Really? Are you really thinking teachers are all about the money with this? Please do not waste my time with idiotic posts like that.

Small sample from the survey or not, it shows the glaring truth behind it all. Apparently they were only "sour grapes" though... I find it no coincedence that Evert and Novota both got low ratings since he went so far out of his way to pick her for the position when others did not.. great executive decision there...

Business model or not, the surveys are accurate. Ask any of the employees there and parents to do the same survey this year, or any other year and it would have said the same thing. I'm glad the survey was done. Hopefully employees and parents will finally be listened to in the future.

On Milton teachers union plans rally for public employees

I hope the community honks and stops by to support them. This district went to work when other schools closed. They are meeting on their own time as well. While I understand people may not have students in the schools in Milton, this town for the most part filters in and out of that school. From show choir, football, plays and regular school days... this school district has for the most part always been there. When parents and students realize the government thinks they are worth $555.00 per student less next year due to this budget and they see programs cut that are usually there, THEN maybe people will understand how deep the cuts are. I can see the incoming 9th graders saddened already if they find out there wont be sports for their grade due to cuts. Good for these teachers and I support them.
