On Milton schools to release Garrow records by Friday

The truth is not that exciting. The board took it upon themselves to alert the rumor mill knowing it would do it's job to damage reputations. THAT'S THE POWER OF A SMALL TOWN!!

Frogger seems to think he/she has hard facts to work on. Since anything he/ she might be referencing has not been proven, it sounds like someone has bought into the rumors that have been circling.
To grant a person "paid leave" means you are trying to compensate for something bad that happened. Garrow might be to blame, but MAYBE he is the victim.
When the TRUTH gets out, if it ever does, you all will be so let down that it isn't as juicy as the rumors you've heard. But you WILL be voting for new board members...

Reading between the lines, Buzz McPhearson, it sounds like you have bought into unproven rumors.
Maybe "paid leave" is the most cost effective solution the board has after their investigation proved nothing, as compared to a lawsuit. To grant such a large sum of money might be an apology.

First we were told one thing, then it was changed to another. How many different versions of the truth will we be told?
Someone makes a "verbal complaint" and the board puts Garrow on leave to investigate it. Then they found nothing. End of Story?? It obviously isn't the WHOLE story. Whew, with a familiar name now at the helm we can finally get past all of this and the board can get away without having to explain ANYTHING.
To think that an inconclusive verbal complaint can be worth $122,000. Why bother with Powerball?

"...nor have I participated in any immoral or illegal activity.”
Is there a reason to not believe him? Has this man been proven as dishonest in ANY way? It sounds like he hasn't. The unproven rumors mean NOTHING now unless you've bought into them so much that you yourself think of them as fact. Since he has been claiming no comment since this all started, it seems as this is Dr. Garrow's FIRST chance to be able address them. Why assume he is lying?
gpwoman- It sounds like YOU have no respect for this man. I know that you are entitled to your opinion, but I doubt you are able to accurately speak on behalf of the entire district. And from looking at your previous criticisms of Dr. Garrow on other threads, it sounds as if you have a vendetta against him. Has he done something to personally and individually offend you? Or are you one of those great community voices that has bought into all of the rumors, or been spreading them yourself?
Long story short, unless the details of the situation are ever released--- It sounds like Dr. Garrow was hired for his ideas and initiatives that have WORKED in other districts, but board didn't like the changes he was making and got worried that a new person in town was going to address and improve the comfortable, yet VERY DATED status quo. and got caught trying to remove him from his contractual job based on a single "mystery" complaint.
And I heard all of that at the coffeeshop!!
Makes for a good movie, or scripture.

" Take more time before implementing change". ?? Translation - " How dare you come into our district and try to change things. We as a small community fear change more than anything!"
What a shocker. Not able to find any grounds for termination. You bet the situation is AKWARD and INCONVIENENT!!!
Sounds to me like our esteemed school board members have dug themselves a pretty deep hole. Lucky for them they could count on the rumor mill to pass the blame on that poor "other adult" whose name was so brutally dragged through the mud.
Innocent until proven guilty is correct. And since the board can't seem to come up with an explanation as to why they did any of this, due to their having to hire an attorney out of fear, I'd say we can finally put this situation behind us knowing that it is just another example of our precious "Milton Way" -Saving face in light of unpleasant circumstances.
On Milton Superintendent Garrow to get paid leave

Lets play the hypothetical game for a minute...
If I were on a school board and did something terribly unfair to a member of the district, Administrator or otherwise, We would do market research for a way to get out of it.
Option 1- Be mature adults, tell the truth and accept the consequences.
Option 2 - Create a way to disclose it by paying off the person involved
Option 3 - Plant a rumor that terrorizes yet ANOTHER district employee, successfully misdirecting the public and taking advantage of their thirst for juicy gossip. All the while knowing that the local community can be counted on to repeat what they hear instead of question it.
I wonder which two of the options were chosen in Milton?

This will echo both Stubby and abass80.
It is COMPLETELY excessive to pay him for so long. There must be a reason why the board would agree to that.
People have been so quick to assign blame and condemn this man. That blame based mostly on gossip and rumors. None of which have been proven but gosh they sure have been juicy, haven't they?
If Dr. Garrow did something bad they would fire him. These days something bad does not even have to happen, just as long as enough people THINK that it did. Granting him so much paid leave might be directly proportional to how big of a broom the board needs to sweep something under the rug.

All we can do is WONDER what it is. If you live in town, you've heard a couple of possible reasons. If you work in the school district, you've heard about 60. The real reason will get out eventually, and surely put all the rumors to shame.

For a community and district who is pushing new anti-bullying policies, they are certainly not setting good example at the top. Our good ol' boys have done it again. This time with the help of staff members and administrators. I thought we were past that historical period of small town witch hunts.
As far as inappropriate fraternization, does that not apply to the board members who knock back a few on Fridays with fellow staff members AND administrators alike?? Sounds like a double standard to me.
We will look out for our life long residents and nobody else.
