lafoot, you asked, "how do you feel every time you eat a chicken, fish, turkey..." Well, what you "feel" is that it's in your best ethical interest to become a vegetarian and not contribute to the murder and slaughter of animals for human use and consumption. That thought didn't enter your mind?
-
And those talking up venison "sausage" and mixing it in with other artery-clogging animal flesh and organs, you must have a death wish, for the life-degrading effects of those dietary habits are well documented. Or perhaps you are so possessed by you primal instincts and urges, and understandably so, that you can't break away from the pack. But Emerson said, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." Obviously Emerson was saying that in the face of data that enjoins us to change, we are fools not to change. I encourage those with an open mind to read "The Jungle" - perhaps that might lead you to plant a seed of change in your mind that will ultimately foster a more healthful lifestyle for you and your loved ones. In this spirit I wish you all the best of health.

Hey hannah montana why take the shot at all - can't you read - I'm against hunting - can't you read? Can't you think?
-
Indy there you go - another one using the oxymoron "responsible hunter." They just don't go together - when will you ever learn? And, neither of these are "humane," factory farming nor hunting. Both are equally revolting, "former vegetarian."

After reading all this I must confess I'm disheartened, quite low. Perhaps the only recourse is to wait for this mentality to die off and human evolution to work its gradual magic.
-
Hopefully in the morning I'll be back to my usual spunky self to p*** off all you barbarians some more.

DonDiego (may I call you Zorro? ;-)) - I must disagree that there is "no choice" but to shoot these animals with rifles, shot guns and bows and arrows. If man is the cause of the problem, shouldn't man be obligated to come up with a more humane solution? It may not be easy to find one, but many things in this world are not easy.

DiGriz why is what I perpetuate lunacy and what you perpetuate not lunacy? And why is there "something wrong with my brain?" And, you would like me to see the same end as the people killed by grizzlies. That's a nice thing to say. These questions I posed to you are rhetorical - don't respond to them: What I said to LocaBoy applies to you, as neither of you know how to be civil.

BytheLake - Kill 'em because they're in our way. Perfect solution. ----- You "get over" me.
-
LocalBoy - You're hopeless. Please don't post anything else to me because I will just ignore you. I know that will incense you even more, sorry, but that's what I have to say to you.

What idiotic logic: Kill it because it's rare. And Mayhem wants a picture! I'm so disgusted and discouraged with this mentality that I want to cry. (I know the crying remark will elicit wonderfully sensitive posts from all the wonderfully sensitive hunters out there. I can't wait to read them.)
-
Also, a really touching angle to the story is the animal wandering off to die a nice, slow death in the cold night. Very humane - gotta love it. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!! Have you no feelings for pain and suffering?
-
I give up ----- Wait, No, I don't - I'll never let you win.

Spark, the same thing applies to you as to Glock; I guess I'll have to repeat myself. What am I to think when you say, "I guarantee you, you wouldn't call people morons outside of your computer screen if it was face to face." The suggestion of violence in a "face to face" confrontation is apparent, and it has nothing to do with "just because [you] hunt," as you said. Capiche?
-
And, Spark, you have completely lost any respect I might have had for you by comparing my experience in Vietnam to your barbaric practice. It's apparent you have some growing up to do. No offense intended.
-
And you say you more often take doe for the purpose of eating. Nice. So you're saying you go out, perhaps to be away from your family during the Thanksgiving holiday, to fetch a meal for your family? Just like in the Stone Age, is that it? If there's no sport in it, or no environmental angle, why not just let the wife purchase the meat at the supermarket? It would be a lot less hassle. But no, it's not a hassle, is it? It's what you want to do, go out and kill these animals. That's all part of the experience. So don't try to separate the kill from the eating, or try to justify the kill because you want meat to eat. It's all a rationalization, Spark, to kill living beings.
