On Residents pose questions about new hospital

Posted on October 2 at 2:56 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Market needs to be looked at from more than a financial aspect. If I were having a baby or had a medical emergency today, I could drive 18 miles to Mercy or about 22 miles to St Marys in Madison. Given the care I've seen and experienced at both facilities, the choice would be obvious, we would be driving up 14 to Madison. It will be nice to have an option in Janesville. To put it in the automotive terms you discussed, it's like having two cars in front of you that are the exact same price. How do you decide which one you're going to buy? You look at the features and dependability and make an informed decision.

Also, bh is correct on the billing aspect. When you have a service completed, there is a fairly standard billed price. From there, discounts are applied which are negotiated with various facilities. If you go to a Dean facility and have Dean insurance, you will wind up paying less out of pocket than if you go to a Mercy facility and you have Dean insurance because your percentage stays the same but the total cost is lower.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Art's family, friends, and co-workers. This is truly a loss to the community.

On Don't fret if you hit a deer

lakennedy, beware! My ex mentioned that he had never seen a deer on 14 between Oregon and Madison. Two days later, he saw one as it hit the front of our car! Trust me, they are there!!

Actually, there have been comments made on another story by people who claim to have been on the dive with him. They said that he was having difficulty before the accident and may have had something happen while he was in the air. That's what they are trying to figure out right now.

On Evansville celebrates new park

Pat, it is a gorgeous park! We've been there a couple of times and I know my daughter goes there often with her daycare. I haven't been upset with any of the parks we've gone to in town, but this is by far my favorite!

On Sheridan: presidential candidates' car choices matter

When an American auto maker can produce the same quality as some of the imports, perhaps I'd be willing to give a thin shred of consideration to what the presidential candidates drive. Until then, let them drive whatever they want! Are we really going to start making our decision for who should run our country based on the cars they drive? How about their stand on the REAL issues?

On Wind research a second job for local couple

We just returned from a trip out west and my husband thought I was nuts when I asked him to stop so I could "hear" a wind farm. After reading about how disruptive the noise was, I wanted to see for myself. They're not nearly as noisy as some of the opposition would lead you to believe. As for the motion sickness, if it makes you ill, don't look at them! This is NIMBY at its best!

On Church sues over fees at Sun Prairie school

It's not a matter of entitled in this case, it's a matter of equal treatment. If they were charging the other groups and the church didn't feel they should be charged, I would agree with you. In this case, the other groups are NOT being charged that has them upset.

On ABC's 'Supernanny' to film in Evansville

clouds, how is teaching a child that actions have consequences going to turn out to be negative? What would be a better solution, in your opinion, to the problems parents face with their children testing the limits? If you think about it, a large part of parenting is shaping behavior and correcting behavioral issues. That is the job of the parent, to help their child grow into a responsible, mature member of society who understands cause and effect. Do something good, you are rewarded, do something bad, you are punished. Everything in life works that way!
