On UW to students: Graduate faster!

Booch - maybe they shouldn't dump those teachers (but yes, get rid of the useless required classes) but reassign them to classes that are in high demand.
Another problem is that advisors drop a bomb on you that you're a credit or two short of graduation AFTER telling you you're all set to graduate. That's a real bummer.
The only reason I got done in 4 years was because I took winter and summer classes and had retro credits and AP credits. It's hard these days, especially if you have to work full time to get yourself through. :(

jvillecna - I agree. This isn't giving the kids sudden permission to have sex. They're going to do it regardless. This just helps prevent the inevitable spread of STD's.

Napalm, I fail to see how this is classified as a panic and an overreaction. This is a warning to consumers. Be thankful for the warning so that you can watch out for it in case it would make you sick.

The best customer serivce I came across was with a woman at the Janesville Kohl's jewelry counter. I had my eye on a ring that was really reasonably priced. She told me to come back on the weekend if I could because I could save another 25% with their Early Bird thing, and on top of that, gave me a Friends and Family discount card. I was floored, and I did go back and buy the ring.

I have a 17 year old sister, and I do not like it when she drinks. (This is going to get a lot of backlash, but...) When they go to college, what do you think is going to happen? They're going to drink - a lot - and get out of control, and make bad decisions. Don't you think parents should teach kids to drink responsibly? I DO NOT think it's ok for a parent to throw a drinking party, but don't you think a glass of wine at dinner is ok? To teach them how it feels, how it impairs their judgment?
.
I completely understand a person's position on a no tolerance kind of thing, so please don't think I am all for underage drinking or anything. I guess my stance is more of teaching them to be able to make better decisions, because my guess is that they will be drinking anyway.

localboy, you are misunderstanding my point of view. I don't condone drug use, or especially dealing. I'm just saying that there is more to a person than whether or not they smoke pot. And to immediately write them off as a bad person is wrong.

msleo, I agree. I think there are plenty of extremely intelligent people who smoke pot. You can't define a person by one activity in which they choose to partake.

studs - the parents in the district have the option to send their kids to a different school in the district if they are worried that the developing curriculum will be detrimental to their child's learning capability. That said, I think it's wonderful that Lincoln has the opportunity to use the latest technology in the classroom. Why knock it? Let it ride, see how it pans out, and make your judgment after a year or two is under the belt.
