How much does the city pay to subsidize the ice arena now and how much will it be paying after the improvements?

If enrollment has been droppng for "several" years, the argument that we can't cut teacher positions seems a little suspect?
On Minority students sought to apply for scholarships

Perhaps the solution is to fill out all applications requesting "Race" as "Native American" or "Other" (GermanicEnglo, IrishAmerican, etc.). If we are to recognize our heritage, most of us were born in America so we are native Americans, right? Or, we could encourage graduating "minority" seniors to enter the military and build up credit for the GI bill like alot of us did?

What has not been made clear is the five year "annual" $500,000 Blackhawk Tech budget allocation is on the backs of the taxpayers paying real estate taxes. Pay for itself in 5 years...I doubt it. With federal and state recession concerns, I would like to see a "reduction" in the BTC budget and tax relief for taxpayers and renters.

Why can't we dynamite the jams? Are we concerned about killing a few thousand carp? If they can implode buildings in cities you would think they could safely remove ice jams before they cause too much damage. What happened to common sense?
On Woodworking class suspended, upsetting some BTC students

There was an email being circulated that stated the US Govt spent millions of dollars to develop a pen for the space program that would write upside down and in an atmosphere without gravity. When someone asked the Russians what they did, they said they used a pencil. The BTC safety committee suggested it would cost up to $200,000 to address the woodworking dust problem. My Russian friend said the welding department should just close their doors.

On an annual basis, humane societies in Wisconsin kill (they call it "putting down") more animals than Wisconsin hunters. Is that humane? They need to change their name.
