Words cannot express how I felt, my husband felt and most generally the entire community felt yesterday. As I looked at the family and at the people gathered to "celebrate" the life of Lt. Phillips it really made me proud to be a member of the Evansville Community. Art was one of the nicest people I have known. Yes, his life was too short, but the list of people he has touched is endless. To his family... live on, laugh and remember what Art was. I believe he would want you to do this. You now have one big angel that will continue to look out for you for the rest of your lives. He truly had to be the best husband, son, brother, uncle a family could ask for. People say that he didn't have children of his own, however, I believe he had many. There are children in our community that definately looked up to him as their father figure. Godspeed Art, rest in peace.

On Fire department getting finishing touches

Forgive me for asking this..... but why can't the "volunteer" fire department and "volunteer" EMT's be housed in the same facility? Why wasn't this addressed when these elegant plans were drawn up for the new state of art Fire House?
