On What a learning experience! Meetings with Ryan, Feingold and Kohl

I'm surprised you got so much time with our Senators. I would assume that an average meeting would last about as long as yours did with Congressman Ryan, so it's pretty impressive that you got so much time.

Not to be off topic, but whenever I read these blogs, Matt_Gaboda has managed to leave a flattering comment completely sucking up to the blogger. Is that part of his campaign plan?

On Legislation could require schools to abandon Indian mascots

I really have to imagine that the legislature has better things to do than worry about this.

That being said, I remember when this happened in Milton. I graduated when we were still the Redmen, and it was hard to swallow the name change at first. But looking back, it was probably the right thing to do.

On Doyle addresses online court records

JohnWicket:

That's a fair point, and it sounds like a pretty scary situation. The thing is, this bill wouldn't affect that.
-
"Rep. Marlin Schneider, a Wisconsin Rapids Democrat, has written a bill that would allow the public to see online records of cases only where someone has been convicted."
-
If this plumber-turned-murderer had been CONVICTED of crimes in the past, that information would still be available to you with this bill. But it isn't fair for a guy that was falsely accused of a crime to suffer from that false accusation when he's trying to get a job. I can guarantee you that most employers in Wisconsin use CCAP when they are considering a job applicant, and even the presence of an acquittal for a serious crime could mean that the employer unfairly judges the job applicant.

I wish we could see the report. I would like to know how local schools did!

On Judge: UW-Madison donor may remain anonymous

I agree that the person should be allowed to avoid any public outcry that he or she may experience from simply being generous. Plus, there are plenty of bars in Madison already. I prefer Lucky's near Camp Randall!

Maybe you're right, maybe I'm just an ignorant sap. But Hixson has proven to me that he's willing to listen and be a true Representative. I've always received prompt responses to any concerns that I directed to his office. He listens and he seems to actually care. I guess that's what I look for, but you seem to take the pessimistic approach. Which is fine, I am not trying to knock you for that. He has always done right by me, and I know I'm not alone on that.

On Who...Was That?

I usually choose the team I'm rooting for based on their colors. This time, though, I actually wanted the Saints to win, and their colors are pretty awful!

On Hixson decides against state senate bid

It's hard to say how Hixson would do against a formidable opponent. So far, he's only had to worry about a very uninspiring Debbie Towns. Anyways, Cullen on Hixson's side will prove a tough task for any challenger.
