This is a thankless job for sure, mostly because of the cynics and liberals that feel that union employees are entitled to whatever they want. Teachers and aides do a tremendous job educating our children. I've got two daughters that received a better education that I did. Sadly, the taxpayers can only bear so much burden, and our educators need to make sacrifices also. Back to the school board, some members, in my opinion, seek the position to forward their agendas or just to have a feeling of power. Most, I believe, do it because they care about our children and their futures. I would like to see this budget standoff resolved in a way that as we like to "say", puts kids first.

BTW, uniforms and equipment are a small part of the cost. Facility cost, coaches, transportation, insurance etc. are the largest expenses.

High School and Middle School after school sports should all be removed from the taxpayers backs. Schools are for educating the students. If parents want their kids in sports, let them foot the entire cost. It also would save money from not paying teachers that double up as coaches. Lets for once seriously look at the cost to taxpayers for these programs. A quick look at most professional athletes would show the educational value of sports in schools. :-)

FuneralServiceAdvocate, give me a break! First of all $7000 for a funeral! Sounds like the whole funeral trade is taking advantage of the deseaseds family. Secondly, where's the science in organizing a funeral? It shows your ignorance in comparing it to a root canal. Sounds like your involved in a Union type situation where you need jobs protected at any cost.
