Always had great fun at the roller rink! We felt like grown-ups and it was one of the few places where you could listen to LOUD music through a decent PA. Giving away my age, but I frequented that scary ole Ace High (bornandraised is a tad mellow dramatic) and Tanglefoot where I dreamed of being on the Tanglefoot "High-Flyer" skate team. HA! To this day, I still use the old Red and White skate case to hold our band's percussion instruments. Great memories indeed. :)

I hate to say I told you so, however......After the first few weeks this forum went live I sent you, specifically an e-mail concerning the responsibilities of this type of forum and warned that without serious policing you are giving people an open forum to spread mis-information, character assassination, slander and offensive content that could seriously turn-off or "damage" your readers, neighbors and supporters. Your response and one of your staff members who chided in was to the effect "We don't have the staff to police every thread, so if you don't like it don't read it." Just like some of the commenter’s, it was a very sophomoric reply from what I considered a "professional" organization...but I told you so.

It was an honor to have a former President speak at a company that is a true American success story (no matter what your political affiliation.) President Bush was engaging, funny, gracious and proud of this country.

Anyone who doesn't try and get their business on a social network, especially while it is still free, is missing the opportunity of the century! Social networking is the best marketing tool available right now. It has no age limits, it's easy, it's instant, it can touch more people in a minute than you could in a month and most are totally FREE!! Change is good! (See the book "Who Moved my Cheese?") It will all work out if you are willing to put in the positive effort to make it happen.

It's simple. Just do the right thing. You you are responsible for your words and deeds and there is always someone who will be impacted them.

If you want to spout gossip, hatred, psychobabble, push your agenda or talk about something that you have no knowledge of, go to a PRIVATE chat site. Craig's List has Janesville "Rants and Raves" (I'm sure some of you would be in good company there). REMEMBER, SCHOOL CHILDREN HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ENCOURAGED TO READ NEWSPAPERS. We are also their mentors. Would you be proud that they were reading some of your comments? Probably not. No one needs to be exposed to (ironically) childish, uneducated "rants" that have no relevance or basis in fact in their local newspaper. Newspapers are supposed to be held to a higher standard and a source we can trust to bring us factual and fair information without fear of character assassination, slander or mis-information from nameless, faceless commentators who diminish the news. "Just don't read it" is a cop-out to relieve people of their accountability and the Gazette should always be diligent in policing their "comments" from becoming local tabloid fodder. Just bring us the news, it's ugly enough as it is these days.

As long as there have been factories and fertilizer you have had pollution and as the years pass, uncontrolled pollution just gets worse until it's so bad we can actually see and feel it - too late. We need to plan AHEAD, not wait until we see 3-eyed fish and have unusually high cancer rates. Remember, we drink this water too - ick! Paper mills, other manufacturing plants and fertilizer run-off are polluting our waters faster than any "flatlander" or "cheesehead" ever could. It's hard to attack the proper offenders when we really know nothing about them or their EPA violations.
