On Mayor wants officer to catch speeders

Posted on November 17 at 11:27 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I think what totellthetruth is trying to say is that "speed trap" town/city is being classified in which police make citations in which their general revenue is based on speeding tickets. You could look at this 2 ways. One is that the town could be rid of speeders or penalizing many speeders till they learn to follow the road rules. Or the alternative consequence could be that if a town and or city is branded a "speed trap" town/city, then people may not move into that location. There's been laws put into effect in which towns/cities have been penalized due to the fact that their citation revenue exceeds 50% of the annual budget. See wikipedia info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_trap

Personally I don't mind the people driving like maniacs out there. Just have common sense is to ignore them. If maniacs drive past you flipping the birdie, just wave and smile at them and tell them to have a nice day. Life it too short to be pissed off at other people's business.

On The Rock County Job Center is busy

taxed2much, I couldn't agree with you more. I too, am sick and tired of seeing people of all ages come in for applications looking down saying "hey, you got an application I can fill out?" Next thing they do is scribble about the application and drop it on a counter and leaves. Guess where that application goes next?

Note to all those looking for jobs... take taxed2much advice. Proper etiquette, nice appearance, and direct contact goes a long ways in getting your foot in the door.

On Obama sweeps to victory as first black president

doc0430, I couldn't have said it any better. Joker, I wasn't trying to correct anybody except to explain that African-American referred to what some people say half white. And Joker, if you want to debate this issue... take it up with CNN.

On Signs, group decry country in crisis

Polert, meet me next as I will be wearing a McCain supporter button sitting in a corner somewhere on State Street being the next "bag person". Figure what the heck, Obama must be doing something right to spread the wealth to those unwilling to work. Guess we all don't have to work anymore to get paid by the government. What a concept!

Polert... Spread the wealth? Sure, Obama says to "spread the wealth" but I thought that relates to not taxing those that make less than $250,000?

Correct me if I'm wrong but what you did, not passing tip where it was due was a selfish act on your part. You stated the waiter did a great job. Just because you see a waiter supporting somebody you don't wish to support doesn't give you the right to pass judgement on them. Instead, you should've just up and left to eat someplace else.

On High schools to open new areas early in '09

Joker... Your screen name fits you nicely. Do tell us, is your source coming from a crystal ball?
*
Let me quote you: "The rate we are going in terms of jobs, we will only need one high school."
*
Course, the closing of GM may have economic impact in city of Janesville but remember, not everybody that worked there lived in Janesville. Employment peaked at 7,100 in 1978; layoffs occured in 1974, 1980, 1981, 1998, and 2008, and strikes in 1969 and 2007.
*
BUT, I don't see changes in population so drastic to lessen the amount of schools in the city of Janesville.
*
So please tell us... how do you come up with such figures and or predictions? All of us has become even more dumber reading your posts.
