On Riding with the King

Posted on May 17 at 10:43 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I would like to read more King. But first I must start off by saying I, like others, was turned off to King by the HORRIBLE adaptations of his "Long" stories. The adaptations of his "Short" stories are great.
I did read "The Cell" and liked it. I also read a few others, but was too young at the time to understand them.
Here is a list of King titles of books I want to read...
1. The Stand
2. The Dark Tower series (heard they are amazing)
3. Under the Dome
Also, you mentioned Matheson. I enjoy Richard Matheson as an author, another one who has poor adaptations of his "longer" works, but his work, especially TV, is amazing.

On Is Racine Street ready for roundabouts?

I thought that is why the hospital was built at that I-90/Racine intersection; anticipation. That on/off ramp on the northbound side is one big accident waiting to happen. Anything would be better.
Also, Mercy seems to plop themselves near the most dangerous intersection in Janesville: Milton Avenue/ Kettering Street, maybe a roundabout need to go there as well.

On You want to work here? Hand over your FB password

Posted on March 28 at 7:49 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

No, I will not hand over a password to FB nor any other online password, nor would I give the keys to my, house, car, or combination to the vault that holds my millions of dollars in rare beenie babies!
I have not heard why they are asking or what they are looking for.
I mean, I know employers that still use the Wisconsin Court Access to help their hiring decisions, and that is illegal.
Plus, people should be careful what they post and what they say online anyway, after it is the window OF the world to spy on you – more than you know.
Also, these days people are being outed for signing the recall petition, that seems more controversial.
And Steve, you are not that innocent on FB. :)

On No Fuss, No Muss Lasagna

Jar sauce, no way.
Frozen - only if we make a large batch and freeze the pans ourselves (which we do each time - 2 extra pans).
We have been making our family Lasagna for years; it is the preferred birthday meal request.
I believe most of the taste comes from the SLOW sautéing of the onions in the right EVO – 40 min. minimum. We also add cheddar with mozzarella and no ricotta. It is such a family recipe, my brother can pick out ingredient variations as well as what day of the week my mother made the Lasagna. “That was a Friday lasagna, mother.” He would guess correctly.
Go hang a salami, I’m a lasagna hog!

On The art of the apocalypse

I liked how in the Max Brooks best selling novel, "World War Z" one of the few survival zones was good ol' Janesville, WI.
I would like to think it was because of my well thought out plan for Z-day.
Like the Zombie Squad mantra states, "If you are ready for the Zombie apocalypse, you will be ready for anything."

On Some of the best TV is off the beaten track

“I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.”
Groucho Marx
Aside - kleej - Stop, you make it too easy. Stop showing how you are "not" influenced into reacting by being influenced to react, such as you did. BAW HAW HAW!!! (Swordfish!)

@Kleej: Yes, "Another one of America's vices."
Um, kind of like trolling a blog.
I love how you took an example/lesson for us and turned it into a real life example - Bravo!

On Good scary movies don’t need blood, guts

Shawn,
All good movies on your list.
I do like layers to my horror films, like you mentioned, a detictive story is good to along side the horror one.
My favorite horror film is the 1982 remake of "The Thing."
I must say that horror films that bring something new to the table are also good, untill it gets overused. For example, "The Blair Witch Project," had me on the edge of the seat at the time, but now it wouldn't.
Also, the Sub-genres of Rom-Zom-Coms are always near and dear to my heart and braaaaaain.

On First set of wheels

My First Car: 69 Olds cutlass - first was grandpas, then Mom&Dads, then Big Bro's, then mine. I drove that AWESOME ROCKET from 1986 until summer of 1990. I LOVED THAT CAR!!! Green 2 door and a engine that no teenager should have access to. (Buried the needle soo many times, and that was at 120mph I think - FOOLISH!!!)
I have purchased acar for my teen driver, a 88 Dodge Prospector. drove it 20 mos. paid $1000 - no rust - fun truck. Why buy a teen a expensive vehicle, other will key it, ding it and have you parked in a High school parking lot?? Trusty but rusty and a beater with a heater is what a teen needs until trust is proven.
