On Posting recall signatures stirs controversy

Posted on February 7 at 9:37 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

So let me get this straight, people are now upset that the regulations that have been in place since long before the Walker recall was an issue are now being enforced? Signatures on candidate nominating papers are public record as are those on recall petitions. If people didn't know this they have themselves or those who asked them to sign the petitions but didn't tell them this to blame not Walker, the Republicans or those now parsing data to make the information even more searchable.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, we live in a world where people sign papers for adjustable interest rate morgatges then demand the government help them when the rate adjusts. Where students blissfuly sign for six figures of student loans then demand loan forgiveness when the payments are suppose to start. Where people expect restitution for investments made in vehicles that have risk of 100% loss when the loss occurs because "it shouldn't have happened to them". While I disagree with those who signed the petition but now are willing to stand behind it, I respect their integrity and willingness to play by the rules. For those who are now upset, say it's unfair or someone should have told them, learn a lesson, at some point in life you have to take responsability for knowing the risks associated with your actions.

On Aircraft maker to employ 600 in Wis.

Three things I am still waiting for:

1) All those ex GM workers who were going to start up their own car company (it seemed like such a good idea when they posted here. Tehy new it all and GM knew so little) to get that baby rolling

2) All those who said it was wrong when people said the wanted Obama to fail because they were opposed to his policies claiming that as POTUS he deserved respect and support to take the same attitude with Walker

3) Sarah B to demand that Beloit quit taking all the welfare payments the rest of the state is forced to give them

Not holding my breath however.

On Wis. board to use software to analyze signatures

"For kaysbrew: Republicans are good at giving tax breaks to the rich off the backs of the other 99 percent."

Coming from a woman so proud of the fact that 80 cents of every dollar the city she lives in spends comes from people who don't live there and receive nothing for their forced charity. Now the same cities school district is thrilled with the chance to use other people's money to pay for their expansion. Beloit's Democratic, Union roots have created the welfare commnunity (not speaking of individuals but the fact that the city itself relies on other communities taxpayers to pay their way) it is today. Would not blame some of those who have attempted to buck the tide to save it if they decide its time to move on.

"nice how they change the law or rule after enough signitures were obtained. they should only have to play by the law that was in place when it all started....i am neither for or against walker.."

If ignorance is bliss your life must be heaven. Do you really believe that before the effort the law allowed for duplicate signatures, fake names or signatures from those not of voting age? It has always been against the law. This will just make it easier to find.

The word "Nomad" has a certain romantic connotation to it. Bums would have been so much more accurate

"Billy: Doesn't make me nervous. I was more than ready to sign the recall petition and did so on Day 1."

Thanks Sarah. Its selfish people like you who make me feel ok about voting against the school referendum in Beloit. After all, if teachers and other public employees shouldn't have to pay a little for their own benifts, why should I have to pay for schools my childern won't use.

Shouldn't be too hard. Even Lotus 1-2-3 would quickly show all the fraud, duplicates, false names and addresses and people who didn't actually sign but whose names show up anyway.

Taking some time to refresh my skills in creating Pivot Tables on Excel. Looking forward to having all signatures on line in a searchable database within several days of submission (should have a lot of help as there are now over 6000 people signed up). Every time I mention this to some of the people who have signed their names to the petitions they intend to turn in they seem to get very nervous. Of course, maybe there really are 125 people living in one of slumlord Gwen Moores Milwaukee properties.

Simply a case of anyone who worked for GM making a poor choice. They should have taken a job with the local, state or federal government. Regardless of the cost, regardless of the ability of the taxpayer to fund it, free healthcare for life is a basic right for that group.

On Walker campaign files recall lawsuit

I had a very interesting conversation yesterday with someone who signed the petition (at lease once). They were both nervous and angry when I explained to them that once the petitions are turned in they become public documents. They claimed that they were assured by the people collecting signatures that their name, address, etc would be confidential. When I explained that there were already more than 5,500 people who have signed up to convert these petitions in to a searchable data base (that's only about 100-120 signatures per volunteer so the list should be up quickly) that people can then view on line they were very upset and claimed I was lying. I wasn't. Within 2-3 days of the signatures being turned in, people will be able to go on line and view the names and signatures. They will be able to determine if their name is there when it shouldn't be or isn't there if it should be. They will be able to look for the names of family members, neighbors, etc who either should or should not be on the list. They will be able to look for fake addresses, fake names and multiple signatures. All of this seemed to upset and surprise the gentleman I was speaking to. I have no idea why as this has always been the way these types of documents have been handled.
